Journal ArticleDOI

Scaffolds for bone restoration from cuttlefish

TL;DR: C ceramic scaffolds produced via hydrothermal transformation of aragonite, obtained from fresh cuttlefish bones, at 200 degrees C followed by sintering have ideal pore size and interconnectivity features suitable for supporting biological activities, such as bone tissue growth and vascularization.
Journal ArticleDOI

Processing and characterization of bioglass reinforced hydroxyapatite composites

TL;DR: In this paper, the improvement of mechanical properties of HA with reinforcement of 5 and 10 wt.% bioglass (45S5) for different sintering temperatures was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydroxyapatite nano-powders produced hydrothermally from nacreous material

TL;DR: In this paper, nano-powders of pure AB-type carbonated hydroxyapatite (HA) sized of ∼100nm were successfully produced via hydrothermal transformation of milled oyster shell powders at 200°C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sintering effects on mechanical properties of glass-reinforced hydroxyapatite composites

TL;DR: In this article, the improvement of mechanical properties of hydroxyapatite (HA) with reinforcement of two (45.5 wt.% CaO) and three-oxide (28 wt% Na 2 O) glasses with different sintering temperatures is studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plasma-sprayed bovine hydroxyapatite coatings

TL;DR: In this paper, the hydroxyapatite (HA) material was produced from bovine bones with the calcination method and the calcinated powder was used as plasma feeding powder for the plasma spraying process in biomedical applications.
