Nickel Spinel Ferrites: A review

In recent years, copper ferrite (CuFe2O4) nanoparticles (NPs) have attracted many researcher’s attention due to its potential application in water purification. CuFe2O4 NPs are low-cost magnetic material and stable under different conditions. Consequently, easily recovered from treated water using an external magnetic field and reused for several cycles. In this review, an emphasis was placed on understanding the impacts of certain factors such as synthesis method, calcination temperature, dopant type, pH and crystalline size on the magnetic properties of CuFe2O4 NPs and its nanocomposites (NCs). The application of CuFe2O4 NPs in water treatment and its ability to be combined with other nanomaterials for photocatalysis and adsorption were fully discussed. The possibility of recovery and reuse of CuFe2O4 NPs and its NCs were deliberated. Lastly, the gaps that are still open for research in the fine-tuning of the magnetic properties and other physical properties of CuFe2O4 NPs for its full utilisation in water purification were outlined. Hence, using CuFe2O4 NPs and its NCs at industrial scale for water purification can go a long way in lowering the costs of water, since it utilises visible light as an energy source and due to its ability to be reused several times.

Ni0.4Cu0.2Zn0.4TbxFe2-xO4 nanospinel ferrites: Ultrasonic synthesis and physical properties.

Green and facile process for Ni0.4Cu0.2Zn0.4Fe2−xEuxO4 (x = 0.00–0.10) spinel ferrite nanoparticles (SNPs) prepared via ultrasonic irradiation (without any post annealing process) has been deeply investigated. The influence of Eu3+ substitutions on the structure, morphological, optical, magnetic, electrical and dielectric traits of NiCuZn SNPs was assessed. Tauc plots revealed direct optical band gaps in a very tight interval of 1.86–1.90 eV. Magnetization measurements exposed a superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature and below the blocking temperature (TB) a superparamagnetic-ferromagnetic transition was noticed. The saturation magnetization (Ms) value is highest for pure Ni0.4Cu0.2Zn0.4Fe2O4 (i.e. x = 0.00) SNP with Ms ~ 58.9 emu/g at room temperature. The saturation magnetization (Ms) declines with rising Eu3+ substituting content. AC conductivity decreases as a function of exponent power base law. Maximum variation in dc conductivity is observed to be around the substitution ratio of x = 0.02. It is found that activation energy is highly dependent on both Eu ions substitution ratios and temperature ranges. The frequency dependence of dielectric functions is explained by Koop's models based on Maxwell-Wagner theory.

Pure phase BiFeO3 (BFO) nanopowders were successfully fabricated by a low-temperature hydrothermal synthesis. Effects of the initial KOH concentration and reaction time on the evolution phase of BFO were systematically investigated. The pure BFO was obtained at the temperature of 200 °C by using the KOH concentration of 8M during 6 hours X-ray powders diffraction (XRD) data refined via Rietveld method indicate that BFO crystallites are in single phase and show a rhombohedra perovskite structure with R3c space group. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) was used to determine the ferroelectric Curie temperature TC at ~817.49 °C. FTIR spectroscopy analysis supports the formation of perovskite structure of BFO.
