The growing demand in the blood bank sector makes it necessary to exploit the whole potential of stored data efficiently. Data mining can contribute with important benefits to the blood bank sector, it can be a fundamental tool to analyze the data gathered by blood banks through their information systems. In this paper an attempt has been made to classify and predict the number of blood donors according to their age and blood group. J48 algorithm and Weka tool have been used for the complete research work.

Rule Extraction for Blood Donators with Fuzzy Sequential Pattern Mining

Sequential pattern mining is to discover all subsequences that are frequent. The classical sequential pattern mining algorithms do not allow processing of numerical data and require preprocessing of these data into a binary representation, which necessarily leads to a loss of information. Fuzzy sets are used to overcome this problem. In present fuzzy sequential pattern mining algorithms, there isn't any matter of itemset time and sequences are only found based on sequence of happening. In this paper, a novel fuzzy sequential pattern algorithm is proposed with sliding window constraint which permits elements of a pattern to span a set of transactions within a user-specified window. Therefore, loss of useful sequences is prevented in the search process. The proposed algorithm searches for a goal sequence within the defined fuzzy sliding window and the membership degree of sliding window is returned if the goal sequence is found.

Fuzzy sequential pattern mining with sliding window constraint

In the eyes of consumers, the value of perishable goods generally declines during the good’s lifetime. In this situation a mechanism to encourage purchases, such as discounts or reduction in price policy can be effective. In this paper, we determine the discount time and the prices for a perishable product with a one period lifetime. Product demand is dependent on price and time. Demand function is different after discount time to an increase in costumer. After modeling, we show that the profit function is concave and optimal price and the discount time is unique. Due to the complexity of the model, using a heuristic algorithm, the near optimal price and the near optimal discount time are calculated.

Pricing and determining the optimal discount time of perishable goods with time and price dependent demand

This paper studies the coordination of two-echelon supply chains using stochastic demand that is dependent on retail price and time. Due to fewer tendencies of costumers to buy products, which are approaching their expiry date, price discount is an attractive mechanism to encourage consumers to purchase these products as considered in this paper. We develop models for objective functions of supply chain members. These models lead to the determination of the retail price and discount time. To coordinate supply chain, revenue sharing contract is also considered. Uniform distribution is used for stochastic part of demand and the situation is considered in which shortage cost is lower than surplus cost. Numerical example was solved to illustrate the model performance.
