Journal ArticleDOI
Persistent organochlorinated pesticides and mechanisms of their toxicity
E.J. Mrema,Federico Maria Rubino,Gabri Brambilla,Angelo Moretto,Aristidis Tsatsakis,Claudio Colosio +5 more
TL;DR: The underlying possible mechanisms of action and their possible roles in adverse developmental and reproductive processes are discussed and where possible a linkage is made to some existing epidemiological data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toward an "omic" physiopathology of reactive chemicals: thirty years of mass spectrometric study of the protein adducts with endogenous and xenobiotic compounds.
TL;DR: It is foreseen that a holistic description of cellular functions will take advantage of new analytical methods based on time-integrated metabolomic measurements of a new biological compartment, the "adductome," aimed at better understanding integrated organism response to environmental and endogenous stressors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toxicity of Glutathione-Binding Metals: A Review of Targets and Mechanisms
TL;DR: Mechanisms for the induction of oxidative stress by interaction with the cell thiolome will be presented, based on literature evidence and of experimental findings.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of genotoxic effects induced by exposure to antineoplastic drugs in lymphocytes and exfoliated buccal cells of oncology nurses and pharmacy employees.
Delia Cavallo,Cinzia Lucia Ursini,Barbara Perniconi,Arianna Di Francesco,Margherita Giglio,Federico Maria Rubino,Alessandro Marinaccio,Sergio Iavicoli +7 more
TL;DR: The genotoxic effect of antineoplastic drugs in circulating blood lymphocytes is confirmed, and in exfoliated buccal cells the data show more consistent genetic damage induced during administration of the antineopolastic drugs than during their preparation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Volatile organic compounds produced during the aerobic biological processing of municipal solid waste in a pilot plant.
Paola Pierucci,Elena Porazzi,Mercedes Martínez,Fabrizio Adani,Cesare Carati,Federico Maria Rubino,Antonio Colombi,Enrico Calcaterra,Emilio Benfenati +8 more
TL;DR: The volatile organic carbon (VOC) and odours emitted during the aerobic biological processing of municipal solid waste (MSW) was studied in a pilot-scale reactor and agreed with GC-MS analyses above all for terpenes.
