Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of total enteral nutrition on the short-term outcome of severely malnourished cirrhotics. A randomized controlled trial.
E. Cabre,Ferrán González-Huix,A Abad-Lacruz,M. Esteve,D. Acero,Fernando Fernández-Bañares,Xavier Xiol,M.A. Gassull +7 more
TL;DR: Results show that total enteral nutrition is safe and effective in improving the short-term clinical outcome in severely malnourished cirrhotics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of collagenous and lymphocytic colitis: a 5-year population-based study.
Fernando Fernández-Bañares,Antonio Salas,Montserrat Forné,Maria Esteve,Jorge C. Espinós,Josep Maria Viver +5 more
TL;DR: The incidence of lymphocytic colitis is three times higher than that of collagenous colitis and should be considered as a major possibility in the work-up of chronic diarrhea in older women.
Journal ArticleDOI
How Effective Is Enteral Nutrition in Inducing Clinical Remission in Active Crohn's Disease? A Meta-Analysis of the Randomized Clinical Trials
TL;DR: Data available to date show that steroids are better than enteral nutrition to induce remission in active Crohn's disease, but these results are more evident when peptide-based diets are administered, but they are not conclusive when either elemental or whole protein- based diets are used.
Journal ArticleDOI
Drug consumption and the risk of microscopic colitis.
Fernando Fernández-Bañares,Maria Esteve,Jorge C. Espinós,Mercè Rosinach,Montserrat Forné,Antonio Salas,Josep Maria Viver +6 more
TL;DR: SDrug consumption increases the risk of microscopic colitis, and some drugs might be trigger factors of colonic inflammation in predisposed hosts, and others might only worsen self-evolving microscopiccolitis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized clinical trial of Plantago ovata seeds (dietary fiber) as compared with mesalamine in maintaining remission in ulcerative colitis
Fernando Fernández-Bañares,Joaquín Hinojosa,J L Sánchez-Lombraña,E Navarro,J F Martínez-Salmerón,A García-Pugés,Ferrán González-Huix,J Riera,V González-Lara,F Domínguez-Abascal,J J Giné,J. Moles,Fernando Gomollón,Miquel A. Gassull +13 more
TL;DR: Randomized clinical trial of Plantago ovata seeds (dietary fiber) as compared with mesalamine in maintaining remission in ulcerative colitis shows encouraging results.
