Benefit on health-related quality of life of adherence to gluten-free diet in adult patients with celiac disease
Francisco Casellas,Luis Rodrigo,Alfredo J. Lucendo,Fernando Fernández-Bañares,Javier Molina-Infante,Santiago Vivas,Mercè Rosinach,Carmen Duenas,Josefa López-Vivancos +8 more
TL;DR: Good adherence to a GFD and adequate symptom control result in improved HRQOL in CD, and the worse scored dimension of CD-QOL was related to "inadequate treatment".
Journal ArticleDOI
Azathioprine and mercaptopurine in the management of patients with chronic, active microscopic colitis.
TL;DR: Microscopic colitis is a common chronic diarrhoeal disease, and remission can be induced with budesonide, however, diarrhoea relapses frequently when budesonid is tapered and a few patients become budesonides intolerant.
Journal Article
The relationship of plasma polyunsaturated fatty acid deficiency with survival in advanced liver cirrhosis: multivariate analysis.
Eduard Cabré,A Abad-Lacruz,M.C. Núñez,Ferrán González-Huix,Fernando Fernández-Bañares,Angel Gil,Esteve-Comas M,J. Moreno,Ramon Planas,M. Guilera +9 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that arachidonic acid deficiency significantly increases the mortality risk in patients with advanced liver cirrhosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomised clinical trial: colestyramine vs. hydroxypropyl cellulose in patients with functional chronic watery diarrhoea.
Fernando Fernández-Bañares,Mercè Rosinach,M Piqueras,Alexandra Ruiz-Cerulla,Ines Modolell,Yamile Zabana,Jordi Guardiola,Maria Esteve +7 more
TL;DR: Idiopathic bile acid malabsorption has been suggested as a cause of chronic watery diarrhoea, with a response to colestyramine in 70% of patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Factors related to the plasma fatty acid profile in healthy subjects, with special reference to antioxidant micronutrient status: a multivariate analysis
Eduard Cabré,J L Periago,M. D. Mingorance,Fernando Fernández-Bañares,A Abad,María J. Esteve,Angel Gil,Manuel Lachica,Ferrán González-Huix,Miquel A. Gassull +9 more
TL;DR: Although associations of plasma FA pattern with age, serum cholesterol, bilirubin, vitamin E, and zinc were disclosed, only for selenium did the antioxidant effect seem to explain this relationship, and results suggest that antioxidant micronutrients should be measured when PUFA metabolism is studied.
