Journal ArticleDOI
Farmers' choice of genotypes and trait preferences in tropically adapted chickens in five agro-ecological zones in Nigeria.
Abdulmojeed Yakubu,Oladeji Bamidele,W. A. Hassan,Folasade Olubukola Ajayi,Uduak Ogundu,Olugbenga Omotayo Alabi,Emmanuel B. Sonaiya,O. A. Adebambo +7 more
TL;DR: The present findings may guide the choice of appropriate chicken genotypes while the traits of economic importance may be incorporated into future genetic improvement and conservation programs in Nigeria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Production performance and survivability of six dual-purpose breeds of chicken under smallholder farmers' management practices in Nigeria.
Folasade Olubukola Ajayi,Oladeji Bamidele,Waheed Akinola Hassan,Uduak Ogundu,Abdulmojeed Yakubu,Olayinka O. Alabi,Oludayo Michael Akinsola,Emmanuel B. Sonaiya,O. A. Adebambo +8 more
TL;DR: Overall, the lowland rainforest/ freshwater swamp agroecologies of Nigeria supported the highest production performance of the breeds and Fulani, FUNAAB Alpha and Shika-Brown had higher survivabilities than Noiler, Sasso and Kuroiler.
Genetic conservation through effective utilization of the improved indigenous chicken breeds by rural households in Nigeria

Comparison of five mathematical models that describe growth in tropically adapted dual-purpose breeds of chicken
Oludayo Michael Akinsola,Emmanuel B. Sonaiya,Oladeji Bamidele,Waheed Akinola Hassan,Abdulmojeed Yakubu,Folasade Olubukola Ajayi,Uduak Ogundu,Olayinka O. Alabi,O. A. Adebambo +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the ability of five mathematical models (3P and 4P Gompertz, 3P and Logistic Logistic models, and 3P logistic models) for livestock improvement.
