Journal ArticleDOI
Biotype determination of Spanish populations of Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae)
TL;DR: In this article, a survey was made to assess the biotype status of populations of the whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) in Spain, which involved observation of the squash silverleaf reaction, analysis of esterase patterns and application of a RAPD-PCR technique.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic diversity of Iberian populations of Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) based on random amplified polymorphic DNA–polymerase chain reaction
TL;DR: It is considered that both biotypes of the whitefly Bemisia tabaci are genetically isolated under the ecological conditions prevailing in the south Iberian Peninsula.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic relationships among biotypes of Bemisia tabaci (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) based on AFLP analysis
María Teresa Cervera,José Antonio Cabezas,B. Simón,José M. Martínez-Zapater,Francisco J. Beitia,José Luis Cenis +5 more
TL;DR: Genetic similarities between 13 samples belonging to nine reference biotypes and two field populations of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) were evaluated using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers, indicating that B. tabaci biotypes can be grouped together with a minimum similarity coefficient and separated from the two other species with a similarity coefficient of 0.07.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antigenic and immunogenic properties of a chimera of two immunodominant African swine fever virus proteins.
Maria G. Barderas,Fernando Rodriguez,Paulino Gómez-Puertas,M Avilés,Francisco J. Beitia,Covadonga Alonso,J.M. Escribano +6 more
TL;DR: It is revealed that the constructed chimeric protein may have utility as a serological diagnostic reagent and for further immunological studies that may provide new insights on mechanisms of protective immunity to ASFV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Complete Genome Sequence of “Candidatus Portiera aleyrodidarum” BT-QVLC, an Obligate Symbiont That Supplies Amino Acids and Carotenoids to Bemisia tabaci
Diego Santos-Garcia,Pierre-Antoine Farnier,Francisco J. Beitia,Einat Zchori-Fein,Fabrice Vavre,Laurence Mouton,Andrés Moya,Amparo Latorre,Francisco J. Silva +8 more
TL;DR: The genome of "Candidatus Portiera aleyrodidarum," the primary endosymbiont of the whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Mediterranean species), is reported to have presented a reduced genome encoding the capability to synthetize, or participate in the synthesis of, several amino acids and carotenoids.
