A method for fetching a content from a web server to a client device is disclosed, using tunnel devices serving as intermediate devices. The client device access an acceleration server to receive a list of available tunnel devices. The requested content is partitioned into slices, and the client device sends a request for the slices to the available tunnel devices. The tunnel devices in turn fetch the slices from the data server, and send the slices to the client device, where the content is reconstructed from the received slices. A client device may also serve as a tunnel device, serving as an intermediate device to other client devices. Similarly, a tunnel device may also serve as a client device for fetching content from a data server. The selection of tunnel devices to be used by a client device may be in the acceleration server, in the client device, or in both. The partition into slices may be overlapping or non-overlapping, and the same slice (or the whole content) may be fetched via multiple tunnel devices.

System and method for improving internet communication by using intermediate nodes

A computing device is configured to perform functions comprising: receiving via a network microphone device of a media playback system, a voice command detected by at least one microphone of the network microphone device, wherein the media playback system comprises a plurality of zones, and the network microphone device may be a member of a default playback zone. The computing device may be further configured to perform functions comprising: dynamically selecting an audio response zone from the plurality of zones to play an audio response to the voice input and foregoing selection of the default playback zone. The selected zone may comprise a playback device, and the dynamically selecting may comprise determining that the network microphone device is paired with the playback device. The computing device may cause the playback device of the selected zone to play the audio response.

Systems and methods comprise a gateway that includes a processor coupled to a security system at a premises via a channel. The channel comprises a protocol of the security system that is a proprietary bus protocol of the control panel of the security system. A touchscreen at the premises is coupled to the gateway and presents user interfaces. The user interfaces include a security interface that provides control of functions of the security system and access to data collected by the security system, and a network interface that provides access to network devices. A camera is located at the premises and coupled to the gateway. A security server at a remote location is coupled to the gateway. The security server comprises a client interface through which remote client devices exchange data with the gateway and the security system.

Communication protocols in integrated systems

Embodiments include a device comprising an interface module for interfacing with proprietary legacy systems. The interface module comprises a data interface for interfacing with a processing component of the legacy system, where the processing component uses a proprietary protocol for processing data of the legacy system. The interface module includes a protocol module that comprises a protocol corresponding to the proprietary protocol of the legacy system, and the interface module uses the protocol to exchange data with the processing component. The interface module includes a communication device that communicates with a remote system via a wireless channel. The interface module controls communications that include passing commands from the remote system to the legacy system, and passing event data of the legacy system to the remote system.

WiFi-to-serial encapsulation in systems

A system and methods comprise a touchscreen at a premises. The touchscreen includes a processor coupled to a security system at the premises. User interfaces are presented via the touchscreen. The user interfaces include a security interface that provides control of functions of the security system and access to data collected by the security system, and a network interface that provides access to network devices. A camera at the premises is coupled to the touchscreen via a plurality of interfaces. A security server at a remote location is coupled to the touchscreen. The security server comprises a client interface through which remote client devices exchange data with the touchscreen and the security system.

Communication protocols over internet protocol (IP) networks

A system comprises a bridge server configured to exchange event data and control data with premises devices. An application server coupled to the bridge server is configured to exchange the event data and the control data with the bridge server. The application server includes virtual devices comprising logical models corresponding to the premises devices and configured to use the event data and the control data to maintain state of the premises devices. The application server includes a rules engine configured to control interaction among the premises devices. An application engine coupled to the application server communicates with a device application configured for execution when installed on a remote device. The device application generates a user interface configured to present the event data and state of the premises devices and receive as input the control data of the premises devices.

Coordinated control of connected devices in a premise

A system and method for context-assisted information retrieval include a communication device, such as a wireless personal communication device, for transmitting screen-context information and voice data associated with a user request to a voice information retrieval server. The voice information retrieval server utilizes the screen-context information to define a grammar set to be used for speech recognition processing of the voice frames; processes the voice frames using the grammar set to identify response information requested by the user; and convert the response information into response voice data and response control data. The server transmits the response voice data and the response control data to the communication device, which generates an audible output using the response voice data and also generates display data using the response control data for display on the communication device.

System and Method for Providing Screen-Context Assisted Information Retrieval

Systems and methods for enabling a PTT user to communicate with an FDV user on a personal PTT communication appliance are provided. The PTT user communicates with the FDV user by connecting to a PTT to FDV system associated with a PTT network and a FDV network. The PTT to FDV system allows users on both PTT and full-duplex networks to communicate rapidly, efficiently, without requiring change in user behavior, without unnecessary speech cutoff, and without requiring technology modifications on either network.
