Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of dietary supplementation with fish oil lipids on mild asthma.
Jonathan P. Arm,Claire E. Horton,Jean-Michel Mencia-Huerta,Frank House,NM Eiser,Tjh Clark,Bernd W. Spur,Tak H. Lee +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that in subjects with mild asthma a fish oil enriched diet attenuates neutrophil function without changing the severity of asthma.
Journal ArticleDOI
A comparison of mediator and catecholamine release between exercise- and hypertonic saline-induced asthma.
TL;DR: Serum neutrophil chemotactic activity (NCA) and plasma histamine concentrations were measured in 9 asthmatic subjects with exercise-induced asthma after inhalation challenge with ultrasonically nebulized 3.6% hypertonic saline and exercise but nothypertonic challenge was associated with a basophilia and a significant increase in plasma histamines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced generation of leukotriene B4 by neutrophils stimulated by unopsonized zymosan and by calcium ionophore after exercise-induced asthma.
TL;DR: The augmentation of PMN LTB4 generation in EIA correlated with the extent of the early decrease in SGaw, and resolution by reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography of products from [3H]arachidonic-acid-labeled and zymosan-activated PMN demonstrated that there was enhanced metabolism to 6-trans-LTB4, omega-oxidation metabolites of L TB4 and 5-HETE.
Effect ofdietary supplementation withfish oillipids on mildasthma
Jonathan Parm,Claire Ehorton,Jean-Michel Mencia-Huerta,Frank House,Noemi M Eiser,Tim J. H. Clark,Bernd W. Spur,Tak H. Lee +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that in subjects with mild asthma, afish oil enriched diet attenuates neutrophil function without changing the severity of asthma, and a micro- chemotaxis technique was used to assess this effect.
