Performance of the original EuroSCORE
Sabrina Siregar,Rolf H.H. Groenwold,Frederiek de Heer,Michiel L. Bots,Yolanda van der Graaf,Lex A. van Herwerden +5 more
TL;DR: Weighted meta-regression showed that the EuroSCORE overestimated mortality, but this performance depended on the risk profile of patients: in high-risk patients, the additive model actually underestimated mortality.
Journal ArticleDOI
Delayed Response to Animate Implied Motion in Human Motion Processing Areas
Jeannette A. M. Lorteije,J. Leon Kenemans,Tjeerd Jellema,Robert Henricus Johannes van der Lubbe,Frederiek de Heer,Richard J. A. van Wezel +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found that the human medial temporal complex (MT+) showed higher fMRI activation when viewing static photographs of objects in motion than when looking at similar photographs without this implied motion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trends and outcomes of valve surgery: 16-year results of Netherlands Cardiac Surgery National Database
Sabrina Siregar,Frederiek de Heer,Rolf H.H. Groenwold,Michel I.M. Versteegh,Jos A. Bekkers,Emile S. Brinkman,Michiel L. Bots,Yolanda van der Graaf,Lex A. van Herwerden +8 more
TL;DR: The number of heart valve operations performed in Netherlands has increased since 1995 and a significant decrease in mortality and unchanged EuroSCORE between 2007 and 2010 might reflect a general improvement of the safety of valve surgery.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mortality after cardiac surgery in patients with liver cirrhosis classified by the Child-Pugh score
TL;DR: In conclusion, short-term mortality is considerably increased in patients with liver cirrhosis CP class B and C, and overall mortality is significantly high in all classes of liver Cirrhosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Does the Use of a Decision Aid Improve Decision Making in Prosthetic Heart Valve Selection? A Multicenter Randomized Trial.
Nelleke M. Korteland,Yunus Ahmed,David R. Koolbergen,Marjan Brouwer,Frederiek de Heer,Jolanda Kluin,Eline F. Bruggemans,Robert J.M. Klautz,Anne M. Stiggelbout,Jeroen J.J. Bucx,Jolien W. Roos-Hesselink,Peter Polak,Thanasie Markou,Inge van den Broek,Rene Ligthart,Ad J.J.C. Bogers,Johanna J.M. Takkenberg +16 more
TL;DR: A patient decision aid to support shared decision making in prosthetic heart valve selection does not lower decisional conflict, but does result in more knowledgeable, better informed, and less anxious and depressed patients, with a better mental well-being.
