Handbook of Ecological Indicators for Assessment of Ecosystem Health
TL;DR: Jorgensen et al. as discussed by the authors proposed a set of indicators for the assessment of ecosystem health, including Eco-Exergy to Emergy Flow Ratio (EECR), which is a measure of the amount of rain that can be extracted from a watershed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in agricultural soil and vegetables from Tianjin.
Shu Tao,Y.H. Cui,Fu-Liu Xu,Bengang Li,Jing Cao,Wen X. Liu,G. Schmitt,X.J. Wang,W.R. Shen,B.P. Qing,R. Sun +10 more
TL;DR: It appears that agricultural soils and vegetables in Tianjin, especially those from the site located immediately next to an urban district and irrigated with wastewater for several decades, are severely contaminated by PAHs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contamination of rivers in Tianjin, China by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
Z. Shi,Shu Tao,Bo Pan,Wenhong Fan,X.C. He,Qian Zuo,Shaowei Wu,Biao Li,Jing Cao,W.X. Liu,Fu-Liu Xu,X.J. Wang,W.R. Shen,Po Keung Wong +13 more
TL;DR: No obvious trends of total PAHs concentration variations were found between upstream and downstream sediment, water, and SPM samples for most rivers, which indicate local inputs and disturbances along these rivers.
Journal ArticleDOI
The seasonal and spatial variations of phytoplankton community and their correlation with environmental factors in a large eutrophic Chinese lake (Lake Chaohu)
Yu-Jiao Jiang,Wei He,Wen-Xiu Liu,Ning Qin,Hui-Ling Ouyang,Qing-Mei Wang,Xiang-Zhen Kong,Qi-Shuang He,Chen Yang,Bin Yang,Fu-Liu Xu +10 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors investigated the seasonal and spatial variations of phytoplankton community and their correlation with environmental factors, as well as the applicability of PHYTOPLankton to serve as biological water quality indicator in Lake Chaohu.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lake ecosystem health assessment: indicators and methods.
TL;DR: A direct measurement method (DMM) and an ecological modeling method (EMM) for lake ecosystem health assessment provided similar results which corresponded with the lake's actual trophic state.
