Journal ArticleDOI

Determination of nanoparticle sizes by X-ray diffraction

TL;DR: In this article, a modified Warren-Averbach method is proposed for the analysis of the X-ray diffraction line profile based on the approximation by the Voigt function, which yields stable solutions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mechanical alloying in binary Fe-M (M = C, B, Al, Si, Ge, Sn) systems

TL;DR: In this paper, the processes of mechanical alloying of sp-elements under identical conditions of mechanical treatment have been studied and general regularities and differences in the mechanisms and kinetics of solid state reactions were ascertained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and magnetic properties of Fe100-xSnx (3.2 < × < 62) alloys obtained by mechanical milling

TL;DR: The structure and magnetic properties of mechanically ground Fe-Sn alloys have been studied by X-ray diffraction, magnetic measurements, and 57Fe and 119Sn Mossbauer spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Initial stage of mechanical alloying in the Fe–C system

TL;DR: In this paper, the initial stages of mechanical alloying in the Fe-C system were studied and it has been shown that the initial stage involves the formation of nanostructure in the α-Fe particles, penetration and segregation of carbon along the α -Fe grain boundaries, formation of the amorphous Fe−C phase in the interface regions consisting of the boundary and close-to-boundary distorted zone.
Journal ArticleDOI

The influence of a surfactant on the characteristics of the iron powders obtained by mechanical milling in organic media

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of surfactants (oleic acid) on dispersion, structure, phase composition and magnetic behaviour of powders, obtained by milling of iron in a planetary ball mill in liquid hydrocarbon environment (heptane), was investigated.
