Huge Instability of Pt/C Catalysts in Alkaline Medium
Anicet Zadick,Anicet Zadick,Laetitia Dubau,Laetitia Dubau,Nicolas Sergent,Nicolas Sergent,G. Berthomé,G. Berthomé,Marian Chatenet,Marian Chatenet +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the degradation of carbon-supported electrocatalysts has been investigated in alkaline medium by combining electrochemical measurements and identical location transmission electron microscopy; electrochemical surface area (ECSA) losses were bridged to electrocatalyst morphological changes, and the results demonstrate that the degradation in 0.1 M NaOH at 25 °C is severe (60% of ECSA loss after only 150 cycles between 0.23 V vs RHE), which is about 3 times worse than in acidic media for this soft accelerated stress test.
Journal ArticleDOI
Morphology and natural wettability properties of sol-gel derived TiO2-SiO2 composite thin films
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that a suitable control of the TiO2-SiO2 mixed sol formulations noticeably enhances persistence of the natural super-hydrophilicity in composite films.
Journal ArticleDOI
Photocatalytic activity and photo-induced superhydrophilicity of sol–gel derived TiO2 films
TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalytic activity and photo-induced superhydrophilicity of thin TiO2 thin films have been studied in relation to their morphology, in particular the crystallization and densification degrees, as well as the primary and secondary particle sizes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Natural and persistent superhydrophilicity of SiO2/TiO2 and TiO2/SiO2 bi-layer films
S. Permpoon,Manuel Houmard,D. Riassetto,Laetitia Rapenne,G. Berthomé,B. Baroux,J.C. Joud,Michel Langlet +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the chemical and structural properties of SiO 2 /TiO 2 bi-layer films have been investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectrography, and transmission electron microscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enhanced persistence of natural super-hydrophilicity in TiO2–SiO2 composite thin films deposited via a sol–gel route
TL;DR: In this paper, it is shown that composite thin films exhibit an unexpected natural super-hydrophilicity that persists with time in the absence of any UV light exposure, which can persist for at least eight weeks in ambient aging conditions.
