Journal ArticleDOI

High-Frequency Plant Regeneration from Protoplasts of Indica Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Using Maltose

TL;DR: Of the three basal regeneration media compared, R2 medium was found to be more effective than MS or N6 medium in producing plants and Regeneration frequency increased 8 to 12-fold when maltose was used in place of sucrose as a carbohydrate source.
Journal ArticleDOI

Plant Regeneration from Long-Term Cell Suspension Cultures of Indica Rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. IR43)

TL;DR: Embryogenic callus initiated from mature seeds of the Indica rice cultivar IR43 was used to establish embryogenic cell suspension cultures that showed sustained regeneration capacity for 15 months and underwent organized growth upon transfer to N6 medium.
Journal ArticleDOI

Callus Formation and Plant Regeneration from Protoplasts Derived from Suspension Culture of Rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. ‘Taipei 177’)

TL;DR: Protoplasts were isolated from young inflorescence-derived suspension cultures of a japonica rice cultivar ‘Taipei 177’ and sustained division underwent sustained division to establish new protocalli which regenerated green and albino plants in MS semisolid medium.
