Journal ArticleDOI

A far-infrared ‘polari-interferometer’ for simultaneous electron density and magnetic field measurements in plasmas

TL;DR: In this paper, a far-infrared polarimeter is combined with a Veron-type interferometer to yield the line integrals in a plasma simultaneously along the same probing beam.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amplitude-, phase-, and frequency modulation of far-infrared radiation by optical excitation of silicon

TL;DR: In this article, two compact diode-pumped CW Nd:YAG-lasers (λ = 1.06 μm, P = 40 mW each) are used for optical excitation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Acousto-optic modulation in the far-infrared

TL;DR: In this article, an acousto-optic modulation efficiency of 1.5% was achieved for 119 μm radiation by exciting a 780 kHz acoustic wave in liquid cyclohexane with 2 ms, 150 W, RF pulses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Theoretical considerations and preparatory experiments for poloidal field measurements in tokamaks by far-infrared polarimetry

TL;DR: In this paper, numerical calculations give an optimum wavelength and show the precision requirements for determining poloidal field profiles in tokamaks on the basis of the Faraday effect, which can be achieved in the far-infrared as is verified in a model experiment using a ferrite modulated HCN laser beam.
Journal ArticleDOI

Far-infrared frequency shifting by optically induced gratings in semiconductors

TL;DR: In this paper, the first approach to frequency shifting of far-infrared radiation by optically induced "moving" refractive index gratings in semiconductors is reported, and the factors determining the performance of this frequency shifting technique are inferred using a one-dimensional analytical model.
