Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of an Ammonium Transport System in Filamentous Fungi with Methylammonium-14C As the Substrate

TL;DR: Penicillium chrysogenum will grow on methylamine (methylammonium chloride) as its sole nitrogen source and the permease is subject to feedback inhibition by intracellular glutamine and asparagine, and the original development of transport activity could result from derepression.
Journal ArticleDOI

Independent regulation of cysteine and cystine transport in Penicillium chrysogenum.

TL;DR: In this paper, the possibility that the "cystine permease" is actually a combination of a derepressible, membrane-bound cystine reductase and the constitutive l -cysteine permease is discussed.
