Crop salt tolerance–current assessment
Eugene V. Maas,G. J. Hoffman +1 more
TL;DR: An extensive literature review of all available salt tolerance data was undertaken to evaluate the current status of our knowledge of the salt tolerance of agricultural crops as mentioned in this paper, concluding that crops tolerate salinity up to a threshold level above which yields decrease approximately linearly as salt concentrations increase.
Journal ArticleDOI
Salinity Sensitivity of Sorghum at Three Growth Stages
TL;DR: The relative salt tolerance of two sorghum cultivars at three different stages of growth was determined in a greenhouse experiment and it was found that both cultivars were most sensitive to salinity during the vegetative stage and least sensitive during maturation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Salt sensitivity of corn at various growth stages
Eugene V. Maas,G. J. Hoffman +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relative salt tolerance of corn (Zea mays L.) at different growth stages from germination to maturity when grown in organic soil was determined. But, the salinity of the irrigation water can be increased during the growing season without decreasing the yield of corn.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of saline drainage water for irrigation: Imperial Valley study
James D. Rhoades,F.T. Bingham,John Letey,G. J. Hoffman,A.R. Dedrick,Paul J. Pinter,J.A. Replogle +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the feasibility of facilitating the use of saline water for irrigation through the development of new crop/water management strategies and practices has been discussed, and two kinds of evidence are given to support this contention.
