Selection and quantification of forestry measures targeted at the Kyoto Protocol and the Convention on Biodiversity

TL;DR: In this article, the most promising options to increase the capacity of forest ecosystems to act as carbon sink are evaluated quantitatively in terms of carbon and qualitatively in the terms of biodiversity.

Scenarios on forest management in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Ukraine

TL;DR: In this paper, a quantitative assessment of future wood production in Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine, its degree of sustainability under various scenarios of forest growth and timber harvest, and the overall consequences of forest decline and climate change on future wood supply was made.

Survey of technical and management-based mitigation measures in forestry

TL;DR: In this paper, an extensive list of measures is compiled detailing the ways in which forestry could contribute to an enhanced sink, or could reduce emissions, and these measures can be divided into three categories; first, those that protect existing carbon stocks, such as avoiding deforestation, not harvesting stands with high carbon contents, increased fire prevention and minimising site preparation.
