Journal ArticleDOI
Combination Treatment in Hypertension The VeraTran Study
TL;DR: The results of the study demonstrate that the fixed combination of a calcium antagonist and an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor allows one to obtain an effective and balanced blood pressure control throughout the 24 h.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relationship between blood pressure measured in the clinic and by ambulatory monitoring and left ventricular size as measured by electrocardiogram in elderly patients with isolated systolic hypertension
J Cox,Amery A,Clement D,De Cort P,Fagard R,Fowler G,Iranzo Rm,G. Mancia,ET O'Brien,Kevin O'Malley +9 more
TL;DR: Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring adds to the diagnostic precision of clinic blood pressure measurement in assessing the severity of hypertension in this population.
Journal Article
Differential value of left ventricular mass index and wall thickness in
TL;DR: This study indicates that LV wall thickness, different from LV mass index, does not provide a reliable estimate of cardiovascular risk associated with LVH in a general population, and it is recommended that echocardiographic laboratories should provide a systematic estimate of LVmass index, which is a strong, independent predictor of incident cardiovascular disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
European guidelines on cardiovascular disease prevention in clinical practice - Third joint task force of European and other societies on cardiovascular disease prevention in clinical practice (constituted by representatives of eight societies and by invited experts) (vol 171, pg 145, 2003)

Journal ArticleDOI
Heart rate and blood pressure interactions in the development of erectile dysfunction in high-risk cardiovascular patients
Mario T. Kratz,Helmut Schumacher,Karen Sliwa,Roland E. Schmieder,Janine Pöss,Felix Mahfoud,Thomas Unger,Eva Lonn,Teo Koon,G. Mancia,Peter Sleight,Salim Yusuf,Michael Böhm +12 more
TL;DR: In patients at risk for cardiovascular events, high HR is associated with ED, whereas the effect of high SBP was not significant, suggesting that high resting HR might represent a cardiovascular risk indicator.
