Nowadays Internet of Things (IoT) gained a great attention from researchers, since it becomes an important technology that promises a smart human being life, by allowing a communications between objects, machines and every things together with peoples. IoT represents a system which consists a things in the real world, and sensors attached to or combined to these things, connected to the Internet via wired and wireless network structure. The IoT sensors can use various types of connections such as RFID, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee, in addition to allowing wide area connectivity using many technologies such as GSM, GPRS, 3G, and LTE. IoT-enabled things will share information about the condition of things and the surrounding environment with people, software systems and other machines. by the technology of the IoT, the world will becomes smart in every aspects, since the IoT will provides a means of smart cities, smart healthcare, smart homes and building, in addition to many important applications such as smart energy, grid, transportation, waste management and monitoring . In this paper we review a concept of many IoT applications and future possibilities for new related technologies in addition to the challenges that facing the implementation of the IoT.

Internet of Things Applications, Challenges and Related Future Technologies

A novel system to monitor environmental parameters using multilevel IOT architecture is proposed. The proposed system will monitor the changes of environmental parameters in Hyderabad region. The proposed instrumentation operates in II tier architecture in IOT. The Proposed System consists of different sensors grouped into 5 sensor nodes which are invoked by switches in the gateway or from the webpage. The sensors acquire the data and sent to a slave controller (PIC). In turn the slave controller sends the acquired data to Master controller (Raspberry pi). The Master acts as a Gateway between sensor nodes and the cloud. The data is pushed by Master onto the cloud and displayed as webpage using HTTP. The data is also received in the form of SMS through GSM. Using the proposed system few experiments were conducted on different environment and altitude. The obtained results were compared with a standard weather data. It was found that the acquired data from the system was very closer to standard weather data obtained from internet. The experiments were conducted for 15 days in June 2018 and changes in climatic conditions of Hyderabad region were studied and information was handed over to local farmers in terms of indicators which can be used as an assist to decide which crop (cotton, jowar, redgram) has to be cultivated/reaped.

Real Time Monitoring of Environmental Parameters Using IOT

The recent trends in the variations of climatic conditions are drastic throughout the world and furthermore its growing unpredictability is a major concern. The existing solutions are highly global and are inaccessible to the common man. The weather conditions applicable to a city may not be as such for a farmer of small rural region or a worker of a small town. Hence, humidity and temperature measurement plays an important role in different fields like Agriculture, Science, Engineering and Technology. The proposed work provides an optimal solution for monitoring the weather conditions at extremely local level with low cost, compact Internet of Things (IoT) based system. In this paper the design of the system is presented with the use of Node MCU for realizing the low cost solution. This low cost weather station is a product equipped with instruments and sensors for measuring the atmospheric conditions like temperature, humidity, wing speed, wind direction for the purpose of making weather forecasts. With IoT enabling, weather station is able to upload, without any human intervention, the measured atmospheric parameters i.e. temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction to the IoT cloud. From the cloud user can access all the atmospheric parameters being measured through weather station from any location across the world from any connected device - laptop or mobile phone. The “Low cost Compact IoT enabled Weather Station” need not to be physically visited to read out the measured atmospheric parameters and thus does not have any display which also makes it power efficient running at only 80mA to 90mA.

Low Cost IoT Enabled Weather Station

-Weather is an important part of the natural environment, thus knowing weather information is needed before doing activity. The main purpose of this research was to develop a weather monitoring system which capable to transmit weather data via radio frequency by using nRF24L01+ 2,4GHz radio module. This research implement Arduino UNO as the main controller of the system which send data wirelessly using the radio module and received by a receiver system. Received data then logged and displayed using a Graphical User Interface on a personal computer. Test and experiment result show that the system was able to transmit weather data via radio wave with maximum transmitting range of 32 meters.

Arduino Based Weather Monitoring Telemetry System Using NRF24L01

Compressive sensing (CS) is new data acquisition algorithm that can be used for compression. CS theory certifies that signals can be recovered from far fewer samples or measurements than Nyquist rate. On this paper, the compressive sensing technique is applied for data compression on our weather monitoring system. On this weather monitoring system, compression using compressive sensing with fewer samples or measurements means minimizing sensing and overall energy cost. Our focus on this paper lies in the selection of matrix for representation basis under which the weather data are sparsely represented. We evaluated three types of representation basis using data from real measurement. By comparing performance of data recovery, result show that DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) is the best performance on sparsifying weather data

Compressive Sensing Algorithm for Data Compression on Weather Monitoring System

Weather monitoring plays an important role in human life, so the collection of information about the temporal dynamics of weather changes is very important. In any industry during certain hazards it is very important to monitor weather. The fundamental aim of this paper is to develop an embedded system to design a weather monitoring system which enables the monitoring of weather parameters in an industry. Such a system contains pair of sensors like temperature, Gas and humidity will be monitored and LPC1768 microcontroller (ARM9). The data from the sensors are collected by the microcontroller and also microcontroller sends the sensors data in to the LABVIEW by using the Serial Communication and this module will keep the data in excel page & also we can get the SMS in the mobile with the help of GSM module. The system uses a compact circuitry built around LPC1768 (ARM9) microcontroller Programs are developed in Embedded C using the IDE Keiluvision4. JTAG is used for loading programs into Microcontroller.
