The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between the dimensions of the self-efficacy construct in academic behaviors and academic experiences with undergraduate students. 405 students of Psychology, Engineering and Pedagogy from various Chilean universities participated. The sampling was non probabilistic. The Self-efficacy Scale in Academic Behaviors and the Academic Experiences Questionnaire were applied. Analysis of correlations between variables and canonical correlations were performed. Direct relationships were found between the dimensions of self-efficacy in academic behaviors and academic experiences, except in academic self-efficacy and personal difficulties, where an inverse relationship was found. The findings were consistent with previous studies which refer to correlations between variables. There were three canonical dimensions describing students according to their university studies: real self-efficacy vs. academic experience based on study strategy; communication style and excellence vs. personal and interpersonal style, and general attention vs. assessment of the studies and the institution.

Autoeficacia y vivencias académicas en estudiantes universitarios

La literatura cientifica revisada indica que la ansiedad es un factor importante en los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria (TCA). El objetivo de este estudio ha sido comparar las manifestaciones de ansiedad obtenidas con el Inventario de Situaciones y Respuestas de Ansiedad en una muestra clinica de 74 mujeres jovenes (46, anorexia nerviosa; 28, bulimia) con las de un grupo control (130 jovenes sin trastornos). Los resultados del ANOVA intergrupo mostraron puntuaciones de ansiedad mas altas en el grupo clinico en todas las variables, encontrandose en el grupo clinico un perfil de diferencias entre escalas plano (sin diferencias en ANOVA intragrupo) para los tres sistemas de respuesta (cognitivo, fisiologico y motor) y los cuatro rasgos especificos de ansiedad (situaciones de evaluacion, interpersonales, fobicas y cotidianas). A su vez, tener puntuaciones altas en ansiedad estuvo asociado con TCA en las 8 comparaciones bivariadas, resultando las estimaciones mas precisas para ansiedad cognitiva y rasgo especifico de ansiedad interpersonal.

Ansiedad en los trastornos alimentarios: un estudio comparativo

This paper explores the effect of happiness on the academic performance of university students of commercial engineering of the Universidad Catolica del Norte in Chile. The main objective of this study is to measure the moderating effect of subjective happiness on the relationship between university selection indicators and academic performance of students. The empirical analysis is based on a sample of 176 students of different academic levels. From these data the proposed structural equation model using the Partial Least Squares technique (PLS) was applied. In addition to confirming the predictive relationship between indicators of university selection and academic performance in the sample, the results confirm that happiness has a significant positive effect on the relationship between indicators of university selection and academic performance.

Felicidad y Rendimiento Académico: Efecto Moderador de la Felicidad sobre Indicadores de Selección y Rendimiento Académico de Alumnos de Ingeniería Comercial

Favorable self-efficacy beliefs have been theorized to predict better academic performance, but this association has been untested in dental education. To address this knowledge gap, the aim of this study was to determine the relationship between students’ self-efficacy and academic performance in a Colombian dental school. This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2016 with dental students in all five years at the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Pasto, Colombia. Prior to application for the measurement of self-efficacy, the psychometric properties of the Academic Behaviors Self-Efficacy Scale (ABSS) were examined using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Participants’ semester grade point average was used as a measure of academic performance. Of the total 390 students, 320 participated (82% participation rate). A three-factor model for ABSS with the dimensions of communication, attention, and excellence emerged from the CFA, demonstrating optimal fit indices: χ2S-B =468.912; p 15 credits) academic course load (rho=0.306; p=0.001). The ABSS demonstrated adequate psychometric properties. Academic self-efficacy was positively associated with academic performance, and this association was most pronounced among women students, those in low SES strata, and those taking a heavy course load.

Self-Efficacy and Academic Performance in Colombian Dental Students

The aim of this study was to describe and systematically evaluate the psychometric properties of attitudes to aging measures that have been validated in adults younger than 60 years. Studies were assessed for methodological quality using the COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments. Best evidence synthesis was performed to summarize the levels of evidence. Systematic searching yielded 21 articles, relating to 10 different measures. Some instruments were validated only in middle-aged and older people, while others were validated in a wider age range. Measures differed in whether their items related to participants' own experiences of aging, their anticipated future aging, and/or aging in general. None of the measures had had all of its psychometric properties assessed. The Expectations Regarding Ageing-12 and the Anxiety About Ageing Scale received positive ratings for the greatest number of psychometric properties, but capture different constructs, and may be differentially suited to different age groups of younger adults.

A systematic review of the psychometric properties of self-report measures of attitudes to aging.

A study has been done to characterize female students who choose one of the degrees offered by the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua in Mexico, in terms of the perceived self-efficacy in their academic performance. The sample consisted of 902 female freshmen college students from seven disciplines with a mean age of 18.1 years. The research method adopted has a quantitative focus with a descriptive design employing a survey. The results show that the profiles of selfefficacy in academic behavior is very similar between students of different disciplines, and that the behavior related to communication skills represents an area of opportunity for improvement in incoming college students. Also, it was observed that the profiles of current, desired and achievable efficacy are related: the higher the perceived self-efficacy, greater desire and more chances of being effective. This allows concluding that if any of them can be improved, the other two will also do it.

The present study analyses the psychometric properties of the self-efficacy scale applied to teamwork and leadership of university students of health sciences of the Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua in Mexico. The scale, designed for this work is a Likert-type survey of 16 items, with a response scale from 0 to 10.The total sample included 524 participants; 202 women and 322 men, all students of health Sciences, with a mean age of 18.60 years. The factor structure of the questionnaire was analyzed through two separate exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Psychometric analysis showed that a two-factorial structure was viable and adequate for the study, giving appropriate indicators of adjustment, reliability and validity. Also, the results of the factor analysis indicated the presence of strong evidence of factor structure stability.

The total sample comprised 592 participants; 143 female and 449 male students of engineering, with a mean age of 18.5 years. The factor structure of the questionnaire was analyzed through two separate exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Psychometric analysis showed that a two-factorial structure was viable and adequate; with appropriate indicators of adjustment, reliability and validity. In addition, factor analysis conducted with subsamples 1 and 2 indicated the presence of strong evidence of factor structure stability, until proven otherwise.

Ademas, la estructura factorial, las cargas factoriales y los interceptos se consideran invariantes en las dos poblaciones. Sin embargo, existen diferencias entre las poblaciones para las medias de los factores miedo a las personas mayores y miedo a las perdidas. The overall sample consisted of 1703 participants: 878 women and 825 men, with a mean age of 20.5 years old and 20.9 years old, respectively. Psychometric analysis showed that a tetra-factorial structure (fear of old people, physical appearance, fear of losses, and psychological concerns) is feasible and adequate for both populations (women and men) according to the established psychometric requirements when the informers are the students themselves. In addition, factor structure, factor loadings and intercepts of the instrument could be considered invariant across groups. However, there are differences between groups for the means of the factors fear of old people and fear of losses.

Se analizaron los 64 partidos, cuyos datos se extrajeron de la Web oficial de la Federacion Internacional de Futbol Asociacion (FIFA, www.fifa.com) y registros que se obtuvieron del programa de Sky SPORTS® del canal 1535, los datos se confirmaron mediante el Sky SPORTS® que ofrece una toma tactica aerea en el canal 1536. Los resultados mas sobresalientes son el sistema mas utilizado el 1-4-2-3-1, donde los dos equipos del 1ro Francia y 2do lugar Croacia lo utilizaron con mayor frecuencia, asi mismo el 1-3-5-2 y 1-3-4-3 que son mas ofensivos, en los equipos del 3ro lugar Belgica y 4to lugar Inglaterra. Estos sistemas en ocasiones a la defensiva cambian, dependiendo del rival y las circunstancias, asi como la tactica del entrenador. Hoy en dia, los sistemas de juego y las metodologias de entrenamiento marcan una pauta especifica para los entrenadores, buscando futbolistas que dominen los aspectos tecnico-tacticos, que entiendan el sistema y la filosofia de juego que plantea el entrenador y que defiendan y ataquen con la misma intensidad independientemente de la posicion que asuman. EnglishTactical systems within football (soccer) are either used in offense and defense. This study aims at analyzing match results and tactical systems during the Russia 2018 World Cup. All 64 matches were analyzed, data being extracted from the official website of the International Federation (FIFA, www.fifa.com), whereas records from the Sky SPORTS® channel 1535. Data was confirmed with Sky SPORTS® since it offers a sky view in their channel 1536. The most used lineup system was 1-4-2-3-1, with teams such as France (1st) and Croatia (2nd) using it more frequently, as well the lineup 1-3-5-2 and 1-3-4-3, which are more offensive, used by teams such as Belguim (3rd) and England (4th). These lineup systems, together with the coaching tactics, occasionally changed defensive wise, upon rival and circumstances. Currently, game systems and training methodologies set the pace for coaches, who look for football players who dominate technical-tactics aspects, understand the systems, their game philosophy, and being tough offensive and defensive players regardless of their field position.
