Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of microcapsulated β-carotene formed by complex coacervation using casein and gum tragacanth.

TL;DR: The results advocate potential of microcapsules as a novel carrier for the safeguard and sustained release of micronutrient in casein/gum tragacanth mixtures as a function of pH, initial protein to polysaccharide mixing ratio, core material load and ionic strength.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lycopene loaded whey protein isolate nanoparticles: An innovative endeavor for enhanced bioavailability of lycopene and anti-cancer activity.

TL;DR: It may quite reasonable that lycopene loaded protein nanoparticles are competent to improve the biopharmaceutical attributes of lycopenes and demonstrated prophylactic anticancer activity, decrease tumor proliferation and increase the survival rate of treated animals, thus signifying their feasible usefulness in cancer therapeutic and intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microencapsulation by Complex Coacervation Using Whey Protein Isolates and Gum Acacia: An Approach to Preserve the Functionality and Controlled Release of β-Carotene

TL;DR: In this article, the configuration of electrostatic complexes between whey protein isolate (WPI) and gum acacia (Acacia arabica, GA) was optimized as a function of pH, ionic strength, WPI/GA ratio, core material load and size of final micromolecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bio-utilization of fruits and vegetables waste to produce β-carotene in solid-state fermentation: Characterization and antioxidant activity

TL;DR: In this article, the authors extract and optimize environmental factors for production of β-carotene from fruits and vegetable waste (orange, carrot, and papaya peels) using microbial strain Blakeslea trispora (+) MTCC 884 in solid state fermentation.
