Journal ArticleDOI
Phase III trial comparing protracted intravenous fluorouracil infusion alone or with yttrium-90 resin microspheres radioembolization for liver-limited metastatic colorectal cancer refractory to standard chemotherapy.
Alain Hendlisz,Marc Van den Eynde,Marc Peeters,Geert Maleux,Bieke Lambert,J. Vannoote,Katrien De Keukeleire,Chris Verslype,Luc Defreyne,Eric Van Cutsem,Philippe Delatte,Thierry Delaunoit,Nicola Personeni,Marianne Paesmans,Jean-Luc Van Laethem,Patrick Flamen +15 more
TL;DR: Radioembolization with (90)Y-resin microspheres plus FU is well tolerated and significantly improves TTLP and TTP compared with FU alone and is a valid therapeutic option for chemotherapy-refractory liver-limited mCRC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early features of acute-on-chronic alcoholic liver failure: a prospective cohort study
Aezam Katoonizadeh,Wim Laleman,Chris Verslype,Alexander Wilmer,Geert Maleux,Tania Roskams,Frederik Nevens +6 more
TL;DR: Patients with ACLF have a high short-term mortality but those who survived the acute exacerbation show a long-term outcome comparable to that of patients with CHD, and early signs of infection, positive systemic inflammatory response syndrome criteria at admission and ductular bilirubinostasis predicted outcome in ACLF.
Journal ArticleDOI
Color Doppler imaging is a valuable tool for the diagnosis and management of uterine vascular malformations.
Dirk Timmerman,J. Wauters,S. Van Calenbergh,D. Van Schoubroeck,Geert Maleux,T. Van den Bosch,Bernard Spitz +6 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to assess the spontaneous outcome of uterine vascular malformations detected with ultrasonography and color Doppler, and to investigate the predictive value of color doppler imaging as to which patients require invasive treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Embolization of large spontaneous portosystemic shunts for refractory hepatic encephalopathy: A multicenter survey on safety and efficacy
Wim Laleman,Macarena Simón-Talero,Geert Maleux,M Pérez,Koen Ameloot,Germán Soriano,Jordi Villalba,Juan Carlos García-Pagán,Marta Barrufet,Rajiv Jalan,Jocelyn Brookes,Evangelos Thalassinos,Andrew K. Burroughs,Juan Córdoba,Frederik Nevens +14 more
TL;DR: A role for large SPSSs in chronic protracted or recurrent HE is demonstrated and the effectiveness and safety of embolization of these shunts are substantiated, provided there is sufficient functional liver reserve.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ovarian Vein Embolization for the Treatment of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome: Long-Term Technical and Clinical Results
TL;DR: Transcatheter embolization of the ovarian veins is a safe and feasible technique leading to complete relief of symptoms in more than half of cases and variable symptomatic relief in 9.7% of cases.
