Journal ArticleDOI

Epidemiology and management of atlas fractures

TL;DR: Atlas fractures occurred mainly in elderly people and in the majority of the cases were associated with other injuries of the head and spine, and surgical treatment has become a safe and valid option in unstable fracture patterns involving the anterior and posterior arch or those involving the articular surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Radiographic Measurement of Displacement in Acetabular Fractures: A Systematic Review of the Literature.

TL;DR: The current standard of measuring radiographic displacement in publications dealing with acetabulum fractures almost universally lacks basic description, making further scientific rigor, such as testing reproducibility, impossible.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sacral Dysmorphism and its Implication on the Size of the Sacroiliac Joint Surface.

TL;DR: The prevalence of sacral dysmorphism is remarkably high in a normal population and it is questionable if the respective signs should be called dysmorphic after all; the possibility of a smaller joint surface in female patients and patients with a residual upper sacral disk space should be considered in the planning of iliosacral screw placement.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk factors for prolonged treatment and hospital readmission in 280 cases of negative-pressure wound therapy

TL;DR: Pat age and presence of an open fracture are independent predictors of a prolonged duration from first application of NPWT to secondary wound closure and should be taken into account for the calculation of average costs and anticipated hospital stay associated with this therapy.
