Smart cities of the future
Michael Batty,Kay W. Axhausen,Fosca Giannotti,Alexei Pozdnoukhov,Armando Bazzani,Monica Wachowicz,Georgios K. Ouzounis,Y. Portugali +7 more
TL;DR: The state of the art, explaining the science of smart cities is defined and seven project areas are proposed: Integrated Databases for the Smart City, Sensing, Networking and the Impact of New Social Media, Modelling Network Performance, Mobility and Travel Behaviour, Modelled Urban Land Use, Transport and Economic Interactions, Decision Support as Urban Intelligence, Participatory Governance and Planning Structures for the smart city.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Global Human Settlement Layer From Optical HR/VHR RS Data: Concept and First Results
Martino Pesaresi,Guo Huadong,Xavier Blaes,Daniele Ehrlich,Stefano Ferri,Lionel Gueguen,Matina Halkia,Mayeul Kauffmann,Thomas Kemper,Linlin Lu,Mario A. Marin-Herrera,Georgios K. Ouzounis,Marco Scavazzon,Pierre Soille,Vasileios Syrris,Luigi Zanchetta +15 more
TL;DR: A new fully automatic image information extraction, generalization and mosaic workflow is presented that is based on multiscale textural and morphological image features extraction and a new systematic approach for quality control and validation allowing global spatial and thematic consistency checking is proposed and applied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mask-Based Second-Generation Connectivity and Attribute Filters
TL;DR: This paper proposes a new type of second-generation connectivity termed mask-based connectivity which eliminates all previous dependencies and extends the ways the image domain can be connected and provides an efficient algorithm based on the max-tree to compute attribute filters based on these connectivities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential Area Profiles: Decomposition Properties and Efficient Computation
TL;DR: The work presented in this paper explores the properties of this image decomposition through sets of area zones, and an example with the leveling-like convex/concave segmentation scheme is given.
Book ChapterDOI
Pattern spectra from partition pyramids and hierarchies
TL;DR: A hierarchical partition representation structure is introduced to map the evolution of components along the dissimilarity range in the absence of constraints to allow for custom and interactive segmentation of the image.
