Journal ArticleDOI

A new yeast poly(A) polymerase complex involved in RNA quality control.

TL;DR: Comparison of native tRNAi Met with its in vitro transcribed unmodified counterpart revealed that the unmodified RNA was preferentially polyadenylated by affinity-purified Trf4 complex from yeast, as well as by complexes reconstituted from recombinant components, suggesting that the Trf 4 complex can discriminate between native tRNAs and molecules that are incorrectly folded.
Journal ArticleDOI

Walking along the rabies genome: is the large G-L intergenic region a remnant gene?

TL;DR: Evidence for the existence of a remnant protein gene in the 423 nucleotide long G-L intergenic region of rabies intergenic regions is presented and is discussed in terms of the evolution of unsegmented negative-strand RNA viruses.
Journal ArticleDOI

HIV-1 reverse transcriptase specifically interacts with the anticodon domain of its cognate primer tRNA.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the HIV‐1 RT p66/p51 specifically binds to its cognate primer tRNALys,3 even in the presence of a 100‐fold molar excess of other tRNAs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Small finger protein of avian and murine retroviruses has nucleic acid annealing activity and positions the replication primer tRNA onto genomic RNA.

TL;DR: The present results show that finger protein p12 of Rous sarcoma virus (RSV) and p10 of murine leukaemia virus (MuLV) positions replication primer tRNA on the replication initiation site (PBS) at the 5′ end of the RNA genome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Initiation of Reverse Transcripion of HIV-1: Secondary Structure of the HIV-1 RNA/tRNA|rlmbopopnbop|Lys|clobop|3 (Template/Primer) Complex

TL;DR: Sequence comparison reveals that the main characteristics of the binary complex model are conserved among all HIV-1 isolates.
