Journal ArticleDOI
Histone Deacetylase 6 Regulates Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 Infection
Agustín Valenzuela-Fernández,Susana Álvarez,Mónica Gordón-Alonso,Marta Barrero,Angeles Ursa,J. Román Cabrero,Gerónimo Fernández,Salvador Naranjo-Suarez,María Yáñez-Mó,Juan M. Serrador,M. Ángeles Muñoz-Fernández,Francisco Sánchez-Madrid +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that HDAC6 plays a significant role in regulating HIV-1 infection and Env-mediated syncytia formation and knockdown ofHDAC6 expression or inhibition of its tubulin deacetylase activity strongly enhanced HIV- 1 infection and syncyte formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel Water-Soluble Carbosilane Dendrimers: Synthesis and Biocompatibility
Paula Ortega,Jesus F. Bermejo,Louis Chonco,Ernesto de Jesús,F. Javier de la Mata,Gerónimo Fernández,Juan C. Flores,Rafael Gómez,M. Jesús Serramía,M. Ángeles Muñoz-Fernández +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, a synthetic strategy has been developed for the preparation of new peripheral amine- or ammonium-terminated carbosilane dendrimers of type nG-[Si(OCH2CH2NMe2)y]x or nG[Si (OCH 2CH2 NMe3+I+I−x]x, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence and factors involved in discordant responses to highly active antiretroviral treatment in a closely followed cohort of treatment-naïve HIV-infected patients
Sonia Molina-Pinelo,Manuel Leal,Natalia Soriano-Sarabia,Sonia Gutiérrez,Gerónimo Fernández,Ma Ángeles Muñoz-Fernández,Eduardo Lissen,Alejandro Vallejo +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the prevalence of virologic response decreased at week 72 and disappeared after 96 weeks of treatment, and this slower response did not correlate with protease inhibitor-based (PI-based) regimens or HCV coinfection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Control of HIV-1 RNA load after HAART interruption: relationship with CCR5 co-receptor density and proviral DNA load in HIV-infected patients.
Natalia Soriano-Sarabia,Alejandro Vallejo,Gerónimo Fernández,Miguel Genebat,Sonia Gutiérrez,María Ángeles Muñoz-Fernández,Manuel Leal +6 more
TL;DR: The observation of a higher CCR5 co-receptor expression in HIV controllers suggests that HIV infection leads to the selection of CD4 cells with low CCR 5 co- receptor density after HAART interruption.
