TL;DR: The requirements and the methodological issues to be addressed for using ABPM in clinical practice are addressed, the clinical indications for ABPM suggested by the available studies are outlined in detail, and the place of home measurement of blood pressure in relation to ABPM is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stent Placement in Patients With Atherosclerotic Renal Artery Stenosis and Impaired Renal Function: A Randomized Trial
Liesbeth Bax,A J Woittiez,Hans J. Kouwenberg,Willem P.Th.M. Mali,Erik Buskens,Frederik J. A. Beek,Branko Braam,F.T.M. Huysmans,Leo J. Schultze Kool,Matthieu J. C. M. Rutten,Cornelius J. Pattynama,Peter J.G. van de Ven,Dammis Vroegindeweij,Abraham A. Kroon,Michiel W. de Haan,Cornelis T. Postma,Jaap J. Beutler +24 more
TL;DR: Stent placement with medical treatment had no clear effect on progression of impaired renal function but led to a small number of significant procedure-related complications, which favor a conservative approach to patients with ARAS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Daily Nighttime Melatonin Reduces Blood Pressure in Male Patients With Essential Hypertension
TL;DR: In patients with essential hypertension, repeated bedtime melatonin intake significantly reduced nocturnal blood pressure and support of circadian pacemaker function may provide a new strategy in the treatment of essential hypertension.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impaired Cerebral Autoregulation in Patients With Malignant Hypertension
Rogier V. Immink,Bert-Jan H. van den Born,Gert A. van Montfrans,Richard P. Koopmans,John M. Karemaker,Johannes J. van Lieshout +5 more
TL;DR: During the whole rapid reduction in blood pressure with SNP, MCA Vmean decreases almost one on one with MAP, indicating loss of static CA as well.
Journal ArticleDOI
Finometer, finger pressure measurements with the possibility to reconstruct brachial pressure.
Ilja Guelen,Berend E. Westerhof,Gertrude L van der Sar,Gert A. van Montfrans,Ferdinand Kiemeneij,Karel H. Wesseling,Willem Jan W. Bos +6 more
TL;DR: Reconstruction of BAP from FinAP as implemented in the Finometer reduces the pressure differences, with an individual RTF calibration to well within AAMI requirements.
