Occurrence and transport of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the water bodies of the Baltic Sea

Gesine Witt
- 01 Aug 2002 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided the most comprehensive information available to date about PAHs in different water bodies of the Baltic Sea, including the surface microlayer, the surface water and the deep water.
Journal ArticleDOI

The impact of salt water inflows on the distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the deep water of the Baltic Sea

TL;DR: Based on extensive observations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in water, fluffy layer material and surface sediments between 1992 and 1998, the transformation of PAHs and the modification of their distribution in the Baltic deep water is discussed in connection with the spreading of the inflowing highly saline and oxygen-rich water along its pathway from the sills into the central basins as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

The consequences of the Oder flood in 1997 on the distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the Oder River Estuary

TL;DR: In this paper, changes in the levels and spatial distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) as a consequence of the Oder flood in the summer of 1997 were investigated in surface water samples and fluffy layer material from Oder Lagoon and the Pomeranian Bight.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons in Baltic Sea water, 1992–1994

TL;DR: In this article, four research cruises were carried out in the Baltic Sea from 1992 to 1994, aimed at investigating the regional and seasonal distribution of petroleum hydrocarbons in Baltic Sea water.
