TL;DR: In this article, the effect of the interaction between cognitive variables and the presence of scent on online search motivation, purchase characteristics, and telepresence was evaluated and the results suggest extending the S-O-R model by emphasizing cognitive thinking style as a mediator of environmental stimuli.

Modifying consumer search processes in enhanced on-line interfaces☆

TL;DR: The findings indicate that consumer search processes are indeed affected by the on-line interface type with different advantages to each, depending on the search situation, and this effect is further reflected in the interaction between consumers' internal and external search and extends to consumer preferences and choice processes.
