Journal ArticleDOI
Altered intestinal absorption of L-thyroxine caused by coffee.
Salvatore Benvenga,L. Bartolone,Maria Angela Pappalardo,Antonia Russo,Daniela Lapa,Grazia Giorgianni,Giovanna Saraceno,Francesco Trimarchi +7 more
TL;DR: In vivo and in vitro studies showing coffee's potential to impair thyroxine (T4) intestinal absorption and T4 to the list of compounds whose absorption is affected by coffee are reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel formulation of l-thyroxine (l-T4) reduces the problem of l-T4 malabsorption by coffee observed with traditional tablet formulations
TL;DR: In the two volunteers, the l-T4 loading test showed that coffee influenced l- T4 pharmacokinetics minimally, and TSH levels in PH versus IH habit did not differ post-switch, but they did pre-switch (P < 0.001).
Journal ArticleDOI
Switching Levothyroxine From the Tablet to the Oral Solution Formulation Corrects the Impaired Absorption of Levothyroxine Induced by Proton-Pump Inhibitors
TL;DR: These data demonstrate the continued absorption of liquid LT4 despite the increased gastric pH due to PPI therapy, and suggest a liquid formulation of LT4 would correct LT4 malabsorption induced by PPIs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urticaria and thyroid autoimmunity.
Marcello Bagnasco,Paola Lucia Minciullo,Mara Schiavo,Giovanna Saraceno,Sebastiano Gangemi,Salvatore Benvenga +5 more
TL;DR: Screening for thyroid autoimmunity is probably useful in patients with CIU and more solid evidence is desirable to determine if there is a therapeutic role for L-thyroxine treatment in ameliorating the skin manifestations of urticaria.
Journal ArticleDOI
New targeted therapies for anaplastic thyroid cancer.
Alessandro Antonelli,Poupak Fallahi,Salvatore Ulisse,Silvia Martina Ferrari,Michele Minuto,Giovanna Saraceno,Francesca Santini,Valeria Mazzi,M. D’Armiento,Paolo Miccoli +9 more
TL;DR: Even if new therapeutic approaches against ATC are under development, more research is needed to finally identify therapies able to control and to cure this disease.
