A New FPGA-Based Architecture for Iterative and Space-Variant Image Processing

TL;DR: An innovative FPGA-based architecture able to speed up the Lucy-Richardson algorithm (LRA) for space-variant image deconvolution is proposed and can be exploited in other similar image processing algorithms.
Book ChapterDOI

Image Coding Using Artificial Neural Networks

TL;DR: The problem of image compression has been recently studied in a variety of different ways; many approaches, however, are based either on transform coding techniques or on vector quantization; both of these methods essentially exploit the correlation which is generally present between close pixels in natural images.
Journal ArticleDOI

Speeded-up Convolution Neural Network for classification tasks using multiscale 2-dimensional decomposition

TL;DR: Extensive evaluations using public data sets like MNIST, Pascal VOC, and WebCASIA, and with different state-of-the art CNN architectures like Open-Face, VGG and DarkNet verify that the proposed model is able to accelerate the training process and even to provide higher classification accuracies for small-sized datasets.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

On the detection of cracks in photographic prints

TL;DR: A method for the detection of cracks in old paper photographs is presented, which uses a multidirectional, multiresolution Gabor approach and mathematical morphology to provide crack detection with good performance.
