Summary Background Since December, 2019, Wuhan, China, has experienced an outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of patients with COVID-19 have been reported but risk factors for mortality and a detailed clinical course of illness, including viral shedding, have not been well described. Methods In this retrospective, multicentre cohort study, we included all adult inpatients (≥18 years old) with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 from Jinyintan Hospital and Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital (Wuhan, China) who had been discharged or had died by Jan 31, 2020. Demographic, clinical, treatment, and laboratory data, including serial samples for viral RNA detection, were extracted from electronic medical records and compared between survivors and non-survivors. We used univariable and multivariable logistic regression methods to explore the risk factors associated with in-hospital death. Findings 191 patients (135 from Jinyintan Hospital and 56 from Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital) were included in this study, of whom 137 were discharged and 54 died in hospital. 91 (48%) patients had a comorbidity, with hypertension being the most common (58 [30%] patients), followed by diabetes (36 [19%] patients) and coronary heart disease (15 [8%] patients). Multivariable regression showed increasing odds of in-hospital death associated with older age (odds ratio 1·10, 95% CI 1·03–1·17, per year increase; p=0·0043), higher Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score (5·65, 2·61–12·23; p Interpretation The potential risk factors of older age, high SOFA score, and d-dimer greater than 1 μg/mL could help clinicians to identify patients with poor prognosis at an early stage. Prolonged viral shedding provides the rationale for a strategy of isolation of infected patients and optimal antiviral interventions in the future. A User’s Guide

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, social media has rapidly become a crucial communication tool for information generation, dissemination, and consumption. In this scoping review, we selected and examined peer-reviewed empirical studies relating to COVID-19 and social media during the first outbreak from November, 2019, to November, 2020. From an analysis of 81 studies, we identified five overarching public health themes concerning the role of online social media platforms and COVID-19. These themes focused on: surveying public attitudes, identifying infodemics, assessing mental health, detecting or predicting COVID-19 cases, analysing government responses to the pandemic, and evaluating quality of health information in prevention education videos. Furthermore, our Review emphasises the paucity of studies on the application of machine learning on data from COVID-19-related social media and a scarcity of studies documenting real-time surveillance that was developed with data from social media on COVID-19. For COVID-19, social media can have a crucial role in disseminating health information and tackling infodemics and misinformation.

Fake news and COVID-19: modelling the predictors of fake news sharing among social media users

Objeto: El objetivo de este articulo es presentar y discutir los resultados obtenidos en tres Comunidades de Aprendizaje en relacion a los procesos de creacion, promocion y consolidacion del liderazgo dialogico. En el analisis, se incorpora el papel de los diferentes miembros de la comunidad en la organizacion escolar. Diseno/metodologia: Se realiza una revision de literatura cientifica sobre los conceptos de liderazgo, liderazgo educativo y liderazgo dialogico. Las contribuciones se han seleccionado principalmente del Journal Citation Report, SCOUPS y ERIH, entre otras bases cientificas. El trabajo empirico se ha desarrollado en base a la metodologia comunicativa, que pone el enfasis en el dialogo igualitario entre investigadores e investigadoras y sujetos implicados en la realidad social objeto de estudio. Se han seleccionado tres centros que se transforman en Comunidad de Aprendizaje en muy diferentes momentos (1978, 2001 y 2013). Las personas entrevistadas se han seleccionado considerango la diversidad de perfiles de participacion en los centros, concretamente profesorado, familiares y voluntariado. Aportaciones y resultados: Los resultados obtenidos contribuyen a la comprension de las formas en que en estas tres Comunidades de Aprendizaje se desarrolla el liderazgo dialogico y como se consolida con la comunidad. En base a los resultados obtenidos en las entrevistas, se destacan aspectos vinculados a los procesos de aprendizaje a traves de la implementacion de las actuaciones educativas de exito. Limitaciones: El liderazgo dialogico en Comunidades de Aprendizaje se desarrolla en contextos escolares muy diversos, estando este articulo centrado en tres centros. Implicaciones practicas: La participacion de toda la comunidad en el liderazgo dialogico en Comunidades de Aprendizaje tiene implicaciones que pueden ir mas alla del centro escolar. Implicaciones sociales: Comunidades de Aprendizaje ha demostrado mejorar los resultados academicos y la superacion del fracaso escolar, en linea con los objetivos de la estrategia 2020. En este sentido, el liderazgo dialogico refuerza esta dimension contribuyendo al impacto social. Valor anadido : Este articulo presenta datos empiricos sobre como el liderazgo dialogico se crea, promueve y desarrolla en tres Comunidades de Aprendizaje. En linea con algunos desarrollos recientes en liderazgo educativo, este es un ambito de conocimiento vinculado al giro dialogico de las sociedades y las ciencias sociales.

Since the Coronavirus health emergency was declared, many are the fake news that have circulated around this topic, including rumors, conspiracy theories and myths. According to the World Economic Forum, fake news is one of the threats in today's societies, since this type of information circulates fast and is often inaccurate and misleading. Moreover, fake-news are far more shared than evidence-based news among social media users and thus, this can potentially lead to decisions that do not consider the individual’s best interest. Drawing from this evidence, the present study aims at comparing the type of tweets and Sina Weibo posts regarding COVID-19 that contain either false or scientific veracious information from February 6 and 7 of 2020. To that end 1923 messages from each social media were retrieved, classified and compared. Results from this analysis show that there is more false news published and shared on Twitter than in Sina Weibo, at the same time science-based evidence is more shared on Twitter than in Weibo but less than false news. This stresses the need to find effective practices to limit the circulation of false information.

Researching with methodologies focused on social impact in line with the SDGs is one of the priority orientations of the Horizon Europe program, as shown in the official European Commission document on impacts for this program. In this sense, researchers must forecast how their project will improve citizens' lives. Until now, many investigations showed the evaluation of the social impact through knowledge transfer activities that, although undoubtedly important, are not enough since the social impact is defined as the improvements derived from using the knowledge transferred to society. The search for the social impact of new research requires the introduction of impact indicators from the design, throughout the project development, and when the project ends. The introduction of indicators, in particular if they are decided in dialogue with the participants, allows not only to foresee a greater social impact but also to improve and adjust the methodology to be used. We explore this aspect in the context of research with social impact that starts from how the COVID-19 pandemic is increasing the inequalities suffered by the Roma population, causing the aggravation and creation of new problems and needs. Thus, we explain in detail how the selection of indicators that monitor the social impact, in dialogue with the Roma population, allows the design of research projects that are more appropriate to the current context.

Social Impact Indicators in the Context of the Roma Community: Contributions to the Debate on Methodological Implications

El presente articulo versa sobre la incidencia del confinamiento a causa del COVID-19 en el ejercicio del Trabajo Social, en el caso concreto del sinhogarismo. A partir de los resultados de un estudio sobre la intervencion del Trabajo Social en tiempos de crisis sanitaria que abarca diferentes ambitos, se muestra la vivencia y el impacto personal de la situacion de confinamiento en los/as tecnicos/as sociales asi como de las personas sin hogar con las que estos/as trabajan. El diseno metodologico de la investigacion es de caracter cualitativo e incluye trabajo de campo empirico a pesar de estar limitado por las restricciones del contexto de confinamiento. Los resultados muestran la existencia de elementos comunes en la vivencia de la situacion de confinamiento si bien se dilucidan significativas diferencias como consecuencia de la desigualdad social. Dichas diferencias orientan hacia donde se debe dirigir el Trabajo Social, tanto a nivel general como en el ambito del sinhogarismo, para poder dar respuesta a las necesidades sociales acorde al contexto sociohistorico en el que se desempena.
