Parenting Stress Undermines Mother-Child Brain-to-Brain Synchrony: A Hyperscanning Study.
Atiqah Azhari,W. Q. Leck,Giulio Gabrieli,Andrea Bizzego,Paola Rigo,Peipei Setoh,Marc H. Bornstein,Gianluca Esposito,Gianluca Esposito +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that greater parenting stress is associated with less brain-to-brain synchrony in the medial left cluster of the prefrontal cortex when mother and child engage in a typical dyadic task of watching animation videos together.
Journal ArticleDOI
pyphysio: A physiological signal processing library for data science approaches in physiology
Andrea Bizzego,Alessandro Battisti,Giulio Gabrieli,Gianluca Esposito,Gianluca Esposito,Cesare Furlanello +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce pyphysio as a data science approach oriented to compute physiological indicators, in particular of the Autonomic Nervous System activity, which serves as a basis for machine learning modules and it implements a suite of combinable algorithms for processing of signals from either wearable or medical-grade quality devices.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical presence of spouse enhances brain-to-brain synchrony in co-parenting couples.
Atiqah Azhari,Mengyu Lim,Andrea Bizzego,Giulio Gabrieli,Marc H. Bornstein,Marc H. Bornstein,Gianluca Esposito,Gianluca Esposito +7 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that the physical presence of the spouse might establish synchrony in attentional regulation mechanisms toward socially relevant stimuli, which holds implications for the role of the co-parenting spouse in influencing social and parental brain mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Strangers, Friends, and Lovers Show Different Physiological Synchrony in Different Emotional States.
Andrea Bizzego,Atiqah Azhari,Nicola Campostrini,Anna Truzzi,Li Ying Ng,Giulio Gabrieli,Marc H. Bornstein,Peipei Setoh,Gianluca Esposito +8 more
TL;DR: The findings suggest that an existing social relationship might reduce the predisposition to conform one’s autonomic responses to a friend or romantic partner during social situations that do not require direct interaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oxytocin Receptor Gene Polymorphisms and Early Parental Bonding Interact in Shaping Instagram Social Behavior.
Andrea Bonassi,Andrea Bonassi,Ilaria Cataldo,Giulio Gabrieli,Jia N Foo,Jia N Foo,Bruno Lepri,Gianluca Esposito,Gianluca Esposito +8 more
TL;DR: Findings in this exploratory study could represent an indirect pathway through which genes and parental behavior interact to shape social interactions on Instagram.
