Journal ArticleDOI
Increased intestinal permeability and tight junction alterations in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
Luca Miele,Venanzio Valenza,Giuseppe La Torre,Massimo Montalto,Giovanni Cammarota,Riccardo Ricci,Roberta Mascianà,Alessandra Forgione,M.L. Gabrieli,Germano Perotti,Fabio Maria Vecchio,Gian Lodovico Rapaccini,Giovanni Gasbarrini,Christopher P. Day,Antonio Grieco +14 more
TL;DR: In patients with NAFLD, both gut permeability and the prevalence of SIBO correlated with the severity of steatosis but not with presence of NASH, and the increased permeability appears to be caused by disruption of intercellular tight junctions in the intestine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic Value of Pathologic Complete Response After Neoadjuvant Therapy in Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer: Long-Term Analysis of 566 ypCR Patients
Carlo Capirci,Vincenzo Valentini,Luca Cionini,Antonino De Paoli,Claus Rödel,Rob Glynne-Jones,Claudio Coco,Mario R. Romano,Giovanna Mantello,Silvia Palazzi,Falchetti Osti Mattia,Maria Luisa Friso,Domenico Genovesi,C. Vidali,Maria Antonietta Gambacorta,Alberto Buffoli,Marco Lupattelli,Maria Silvia Favretto,Giuseppe La Torre +18 more
TL;DR: A ypCR after neoadjuvant therapy identified a favorable group of patients, even in this large series of 566 patients collected in 61 centers, to verify whether yp CR predicts a favorable outcome in a largeseries of patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic accuracy of passive leg raising for prediction of fluid responsiveness in adults: systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical studies
Fabio Cavallaro,Claudio Sandroni,C Marano,Giuseppe La Torre,Alice Mannocci,Chiara De Waure,Giuseppe Bello,Riccardo Maviglia,Massimo Antonelli +8 more
TL;DR: Passive leg raising-induced changes in cardiac output can reliably predict fluid responsiveness regardless of ventilation mode and cardiac rhythm, and PLR-cCO has a significantly higher predictive value than PLP-cPP.
Journal ArticleDOI
Behavioural Addictions in Adolescents and Young Adults: Results from a Prevalence Study
C. Villella,Giovanni Martinotti,Marco Di Nicola,Maria Cassano,Giuseppe La Torre,Maria Daniela Gliubizzi,Immacolata Messeri,Filippo Petruccelli,Pietro Bria,Luigi Janiri,Gianluigi Conte +10 more
TL;DR: The strong correlation among different addictive behaviours is in line with the hypothesis of a common psychopathological dimension underlying these phenomena, and further studies are needed to assess personality traits and other clinical disorders associated with these problems behaviours.
Journal ArticleDOI
The extent of microvascular damage during myocardial contrast echocardiography is superior to other known indexes of post-infarct reperfusion in predicting left ventricular remodeling: results of the multicenter AMICI study
Leonarda Galiuto,B. Garramone,Antonio Scarà,Antonio Giuseppe Rebuzzi,Filippo Crea,Giuseppe La Torre,Stefania Funaro,Mariapina Madonna,Francesco Fedele,Luciano Agati +9 more
TL;DR: Among patients with TIMI flow grade 3, the extent of microvascular damage, detected and quantitated by MCE, is the most powerful independent predictor of LV remodeling after STEMI as compared with persistent ST-segment elevation and myocardial blush grade.
