TL;DR: In this paper, the back spans of the Stonecutters bridge were lifted by a total of 20 strand jacks and a subsequent two-way sliding at height with the assistance of specialist expertise.
Abstract: The paper describes the erection of the steel back spans of Stonecutters Bridge by a Heavy Lifting scheme. Previously constructed permanent works could be utilized as lifting points, thus eliminating the need for a ground-bearing falsework. Specialist expertise enabled the simultaneous lift by a total of 20 strand jacks and a subsequent two-way sliding at height. Engineering challenges were posed by typhoon considerations and the need for an accurate control of the structural geometry during erection. (A)
