Coordinated control of stability and economy based on torque distribution of distributed drive electric vehicle

With the massive interest in electric vehicle technology, all different types of vehicles are moving toward green awareness, including the motorcycle. As time progresses, the investigations on the motorcycle developed to an even more complex model as the model need to be able to include the dynamics of the motorcycle at high speed. Relatively, few works of the literature found on an electric motorcycle (MC) modeling. Therefore, this paper aims to develop an E-MC model that represents a realistic model of the motorcycle with both kinematics and dynamics of the motorcycle incorporated in the model. The developed model is then tested for the speed tracking and the range travelled to evaluate the performance. Two different driving cycles that commonly applied in the commercial motorcycle evaluation test are used as the driving profiles in the simulation, namely, the Worldwide Motorcycle Test Cycle and New European Driving Cycle profiles. The results show an evident ability for the developed model of the E-MC to track the speed profile. It is also noted that the distance travelled by the E-MC model can be effectively determined.

Electric Motorcycle Modeling for Speed Tracking and Range Travelled Estimation

Aiming at the actuator time delay caused by the drive-by-wire technology, a novel manoeuvre stability controller based on model predictive control is proposed for full drive-by-wire vehicles. Firstly, the future vehicle dynamics are predicted by a twodegree-of-freedom vehicle model with input delay. Secondly, in order to prevent the vehicle from destabilizing due to excessive side slip angles, the determined ideal yaw rate and side slip angle are tracked simultaneously by optimizing the front wheel angle and additional yaw moment. Moreover, in order to improve the trajectory tracking ability, a side slip angle constraint determined by phase plane stability boundaries is added to the cost function. The results of Matlab and veDYNA co-simulation show that the regulated yaw rate can track the reference value well and the side slip angle decreases. Meanwhile, the trajectory tracking ability is improved obviously by compensating the time delay.

Research on simple test and adjustment method of vehicle comfort

−Vehicle dynamic control (VDC) systems play an important role with regard to vehicle stability and safety when turning. VDC systems prevent vehicles from spinning or slipping when cornering sharply by controlling vehicle yaw moment, which is generated by braking forces. Thus, it is important to control braking forces depending on the driving conditions of the vehicle. The required yaw moment to stabilize a vehicle is calculated through optimal control and a combination of braking forces used to generate the calculated yaw moment. However, braking forces can change due to frictional coefficients being affected by variations in temperature. This can cause vehicles to experience stability problems due an improper yaw moment being applied to the vehicle. In this paper, a brake temperature estimator based on the finite different method (FDM) was proposed with a friction coefficient estimator in order to solve this problem. The developed braking characteristic estimation model was used to develop a VDC cooperative control algorithm using hydraulic braking and the regenerative braking of an in-wheel motor. Performance simulations of the developed cooperative control algorithm were performed through cosimulation with MATLAB/Simulink and CarSim. From the simulation results, it was verified that vehicle stability was ensured despite any changes in the braking characteristics due to brake temperatures.
