New logistics and production trends as the effect of global economy changes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduced the logistical tendencies and challenges with reasons and driving forces of the logistics service sector and analyzed the changes of customer demands, production requirements, formation of supply chains, inventory strategies, transportation activities and activity of the Logistics service sector.
Journal ArticleDOI

Economic, Social Impacts and Operation of Smart Factories in Industry 4.0 Focusing on Simulation and Artificial Intelligence of Collaborating Robots

TL;DR: In this paper, a real case study is introduced for simulation of the operation of two collaborating robots applying AI, where numerical and graphical modeling and simulation, 3D design, furthermore executing Tabu Search in the space of trajectories, but in some aspects the work included fundamental methods, like suggesting an original whip-lashing analog for designing robot trajectories.
Journal ArticleDOI

Facility layout redesign for efficiency improvement and cost reduction

TL;DR: The described case study shows how the efficiency and reduced manufacturing cost of a real manufacturing system can be improved by re-layout design, while smaller floor space is needed for the production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Combination of Lean value-oriented conception and facility layout design for even more significant efficiency improvement and cost reduction

TL;DR: The purpose of the research was the elaboration of the methodology and procedure of a new combined efficiency improvement method which basically applies Lean methods and also uses the facility layout design (FLD) method simultaneously, integrating the different advantages of these methods, which is even more efficient that applying each of the methods individually.
Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis and optimum design of fibre-reinforced composite structures

TL;DR: In this paper, the optimal design of a carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) sandwich-like structure with aluminium (Al) webs is addressed and the material parameters are determined using tensile tests, whereafter the results of an analytical model, a numerical model and an experimental setup are compared.
