Journal ArticleDOI

Kinematical studies of the flows around free or surface-mounted obstacles; applying topology to flow visualization

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the zero-shear-stress points on the surface and on the obstacle must be such that the sum of the nodes and the saddles of the saddle must satisfy

Wind-tunnel measurements in the wakes of structures

TL;DR: In this article, longitudinal mean velocity, turbulence intensity, space correlations, and spectra made in the wake of two rectangular scaled models in simulated atmospheric boundary-layer winds are presented and analyzed with some singular point theorems.
Journal ArticleDOI

Secondary flows and vortex formation around a circular cylinder in constant-shear flow

TL;DR: In this paper, a pair of curved gauzes with non-uniform porosity was used to generate a strong constant shear flow with low turbulence intensity, and the complex features of this flow around a circular cylinder with its axis normal to the vorticity and mean velocity vectors were studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

The production of constant-shear flow

TL;DR: In this paper, an effective and practical method of producing strong constant-shear flow with a low turbulence level in the laboratory has been developed, which can be generalized to specify the gauze shape and porosity distribution necessary to generate other velocity distributions desired in a duct flow.
