Litter composition has stronger influence on the structure of soil fungal than bacterial communities

TL;DR: The findings of this study show that litter composition has a stronger influence on the composition of fungal than bacterial communities, and suggest that some key fungal taxa have greater advantage in degrading relatively resistant plant material thereby supporting the growth of other bacterial and fungalTaxa through release of simple, more degradable, compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Foliar uptake of volatilized ammonia from surface‐applied urea by spring wheat

TL;DR: In this paper, surface-applied 15N-enriched urea was applied at rates equivalent to 100 kg N ha•1 to soil contained in trays placed between two rows of spring wheat.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluation of Native and Introduced Grasses for Reclamation and Production

TL;DR: Comparisons of aboveground net primary production and soil organic carbon (C) among monoculture communities of selected native grass species, crested wheatgrass, and Russian wildrye and to compare the native grass monocultures with their mixtures showed native species were more productive under both normal moisture and drought conditions.
