Nanostructured Cu-Bi alloys prepared by co-evaporation in a continuous gas flow

TL;DR: In this article, a new preparation process for nanostructured alloys utilizing co-evaporation in a continuous gas flow has been developed, where inert gas is injected into a preparation chamber through a nozzle in order to establish a convectional flow that carries crystallites of one element above an evaporation source of a second element so that the atoms of the second source condense at the crystallite's surfaces in the form of a thin coating.
Journal ArticleDOI

Kinetics of gallium films confined at grain boundaries

TL;DR: In this paper, a combined study of in situ x-ray diffraction at temperatures between 293 and 80 K, differential scanning calorimetry, and coherent quasielastic neutron scattering (QENS), of thin Ga films confined at grain boundaries in nanocomposites that are produced by high-energy ball milling is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Local structure and size effects in nanophase palladium: An X-ray absorption study

TL;DR: In this article, the connection between local structure and the grain size distribution in nanophase palladium is studied by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAFS) and Xray diffraction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mobility of Ga confined in nanostructured alumina

TL;DR: In this paper, the melting behavior of thin Ga films confined at the grain boundaries of nanostructured alumina was investigated by means of QENS, which was rationalised in terms of the confined geometry.
