Deborah Y. Kwoh,G. R. Davis,Kristina Marie Whitfield,H. L. Chappelle,L. J. DiMichele,Thomas R. Gingeras +5 more
TL;DR: A transcription-based amplification system (TAS) is described in this paper, which is used to detect human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)-infected cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Detection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 in AIDS Patients Using Amplification-Mediated Hybridization Analyses: Reproducibility and Quantitative Limitations
G. R. Davis,K. Blumeyer,L. J. DiMichele,K. M. Whitfield,H. L. Chappelle,Nanette L. Riggs,Srinka Ghosh,P. M. Kao,Eoin Fahy,D. Y. Kwoh,John C. Guatelli,Stephen A. Spector,Douglas D. Richman,Thomas R. Gingeras +13 more
TL;DR: The results indicated that variations of 10- and 5-fold in the HIV-1 sequence levels could be detected between samples by TAS and PCR, respectively, and within the range of sensitivities for each assay used.
