We investigated the bioactive potential of fungal endophytes isolated from the roots of Glycine max (L.) Merr. and Cucumis sativus. Initial screening results showed that endophytes, (Chrysosporium pseudomerdarium, Aspergillus fumigates and Paecilomyces sp., Penicillium sp., Phoma glomerata, and Paecilomyces formosus) were promoting the growth attributes (shoot length, chlorophyll contents, and biomass) of mutant and wild-type rice. To know whether, these endophytes were producing bioactive chemical constituents; the endophytes were grown in potato dextrose, czapek broth, and ICI mediums that resulted in varying mycelia biomass. The advance chromatographic analysis of endophytic fungal culture filtrate showed gibberellins (GA) production namely GA1 (0.05–10.55 ngml−1), GA3 (0.48–9.0 ngml−1), GA4 (0.2–8.0 ngml−1), GA7 (1.4–6.5 ngml−1), and GA9 (0.03–1.05 ngml−1) while among endophytes, P. glomerata and P. formosus were highly potent in GAs production. Bioactive chemical constituents produced by endophytes and effects on rice plant growth

In the present study we isolated and characterized thermo-tolerant phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) having high ferric phosphate (Fe-P) and aluminum phosphate (Al-P) solubilizing abilities for the first time from rock phosphate mines of Jhamarkotra. Optimization for phosphate (P) solubilization by the isolate BISR-HY65 was performed. Different insoluble P sources viz. hydroxyapatite (H-Ap), Al-P and Fe-P along with rock phosphate (RP) from two different mines of India were used to characterize phosphate solubilizing (PSE) abilities. Optimum conditions found were: temperature 50 °C, pH 7.5, xylose as carbon source, ammonium oxalate as nitrogen source and potassium sulfate as potassium source. Phosphate solubilization was found to be associated with the release of organic acids in culture. HPLC analysis of the culture broth at 96 h of incubation detected four known acids (citric, gluconic, malic and formic acid) along with three unknown acids. Optimization of culture conditions for phosphate solubilization by a thermo-tolerant phosphate-solubilizing bacterium Brevibacillus sp. BISR-HY65 isolated from phosphate mines

A study of rock phosphate (RP) mines, rich in R2O3 (Fe2O3 and Al2O3) contents, was done to explore the possibilities of isolating and characterizing thermo-tolerant phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) having the ability to solubilize ferric phosphate (Fe-P) and aluminium phosphate (Al-P) efficiently. One hundred and ten thermo-tolerant PSB were isolated employing Pikovskaya (PVK) broth amended with RP, and six of these isolates were selected for further study. The phosphate solubilizing efficiency (PSE) was determined in PVK broth containing tri-calcium phosphate (TCP), hydroxyapatite (Hy-P), Fe-P, Al-P or RP. These isolates showed solubilization of all the phosphorus (P) sources used in this study, particularly Fe-P, Al-P and RP. The main mechanism of P-solubilization seemed to be mediated by the production of organic acids leading to medium acidification.
