Near-infrared phosphorescence: materials and applications

TL;DR: This review describes the overall progress made in the past ten years on NIR phosphorescent transition-metal complexes including Cu(I), Cu(II), Cr(III), Re(I, Re-I), Re-III, Ru(II) and Au(I) complexes, with a primary focus on material design complemented with a selection of optical, electronic, sensory, and biologic applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Fluorescence Aggregation-Caused Quenching versus Aggregation-Induced Emission: A Visual Teaching Technology for Undergraduate Chemistry Students

TL;DR: In this paper, a laboratory experiment visually exploring two opposite basic principles of fluorescence of aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) is demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tetradentate Schiff base platinum(II) complexes as new class of phosphorescent materials for high-efficiency and white-light electroluminescent devices

TL;DR: In this article, the capabilities of readily prepared and sublimable Pt(II) Schiff base triplet emitters as OLED dopants have been examined; maximum luminous and power efficiencies and luminance of 31 cd A−1, 14 lm W−1 and 23,000 cd m−2, respectively, and white EL (CIE: 0.33, 0.35), have been achieved.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ratiometric optical oxygen sensing: a review in respect of material design

TL;DR: This review describes the overall progress made in the past ten years on ratiometric optical ground-state triplet oxygen sensing and offers a critical comparison of various methods reported in the literature and provides a development blueprint for ratiometry optical oxygen sensing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient White Organic Light-Emitting Devices Based on Phosphorescent Platinum(II)/Fluorescent Dual-Emitting Layers

TL;DR: In this paper, a white organic light-emitting devices with uncomplicated architectures were fabricated employing phosphorescent platinum(II) complexes containing extended π−conjugated cyclometalated ligands as a yellow light source, and fluorescent material 9,10−bis−(β‐naphthyl)−anthrene as a blue light source.
