Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of foliar application of selenate and selenite at different growth stages on Selenium accumulation and speciation in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.).
Haiqing Zhang,Zhuqing Zhao,Xin Zhang,Wei Zhang,Liqiang Huang,Zezhou Zhang,Linxi Yuan,Xinwei Liu +7 more
TL;DR: Results showed that selenate was more efficient than selenite in improving total Se, and the highest tuber Se concentration was obtained at the tuber bulking stage, suggesting that the foliar application of Se-rich potatoes is appropriate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of potassium fertilization on potato starch physicochemical properties.
TL;DR: This study indicated that enhanced potassium fertilization improved the resistance to heat and shear stress and decreased the retrogradation of starch, and the 270 kg/haassium fertilization rate could obtain the highest tuber and starch production with desirable starch physicochemical properties.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of excessive nitrogen on levels of amino acids and sugars, and differential response to post-harvest cold storage in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) tubers.
TL;DR: The results highlighted the negative effects of EN on free amino acid and sugars metabolism in the post-harvest tubers and provided useful information for understanding the underpinning physiological mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selenium uptake and fruit quality of pear (Pyrus communis L.) treated with foliar Se application
Xiaofang Deng,Zhuqing Zhao,Zeng-Yu Han,Liqiang Huang,Chenhao Lv,Zhihua Zhang,Haiqing Zhang,Xinwei Liu +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of different selenium sources and spraying dates on Se concentrations and transformation of inorganic Se into organic Se compounds in various parts of the pear tree and on fruit quality were explored.
Journal ArticleDOI
Light-induced ultrastructure changes of amyloplasts and effect of nitrogen fertilization on greening in potato tubers (Solanum tuberosum L.)
TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of nitrogen level (0, 210, and 315 kg N ha−1) on starch granule size and tuber greening of three commercial cultivars was explored.
