Journal ArticleDOI
Iron regulation of ferritin gene expression.
TL;DR: Regulation of ferritin synthesis at the translational and transcriptional levels and by transferrin receptor mRNA abudance at the level of breakdown provide a coordinate mechanism for protecting cells against the effects of excess iron.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rat placental protein synthesis and peptide hormone secretion in relation to malnutrition from protein deficiency or alcohol administration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soluble RNA Polymerases of Rat Liver Nuclei: Properties, Template Specificity, and Amanitin Responses in vitro and in vivo
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of human placental lactogen and human chorionic gonadotropin by polyribosomes and messenger RNA's from early and full term placentas.
TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis of human placental lactogen (hPL) and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) by membrane-bound and free polyribosomes from early and from full term human placentas was investigated by in vitro release of the nascent hormone peptides, followed by immunoprecipitation and electrophoresis in sodium dodecyl sulfate gels, and by specific binding of 125I-labeled hPL antibody to nascent peptide chains.
Journal ArticleDOI
Placental lactogen administration reverses the effect of low-protein diet on maternal and fetal serum somatomedin levels in the pregnant rat.
TL;DR: It was concluded that protein deficiency may reduce secretion of somatomedins by the liver (or other tissues) of the pregnant rat indirectly through reduction in output of rat placental lactogen by the placenta.
