Book ChapterDOI

Structure and biosynthesis of human placental peptide hormones.

TL;DR: The chapter deals mainly with human chorionic gonadotropin and human placental lactogen, and briefly discusses the evidence regarding other proteins secreted by the placenta.
Journal ArticleDOI

Participation of dopamine- and serotonin- receptors in the disaggregation of brain polysomes by L-dopa and L-5-HTP.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the poly‐some disaggregation is caused by the interactions of the monoamines with specific receptor sites, and dopa‐induced disag segregation is blocked if rats are pretreated with haloperidol or pimozide, while 5‐HTP‐inducedaggregation is blocked by methysergide or cyproheptadine.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood corticosterone levels in the rat after administration of amino acids.

TL;DR: The experiments reported here show that, within a 24-h period of administering methionine or leucine to rats, there is an elevation of blood corticosterone-level, which would appear to confirm the proposed mechanism of action of methionines and leucines on liver RNA metabolism.
