Journal ArticleDOI
Contribution of job control and other risk factors to social variations in coronary heart disease incidence
TL;DR: Much of the inverse social gradient in CHD incidence can be attributed to differences in psychosocial work environment, and from factors that act early in life, as represented by physical height.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low job control and risk of coronary heart disease in whitehall ii (prospective cohort) study
Hans Bosma,Michael Marmot,Harry Hemingway,Amanda Nicholson,Eric J. Brunner,Stephen Stansfeld +5 more
TL;DR: The cumulative effect of low job control assessed on two occasions indicates that giving employees more variety in tasks and a stronger say in decisions about work may decrease the risk of coronary heart disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two alternative job stress models and the risk of coronary heart disease.
TL;DR: This is apparently the first report showing independent effects of components of two alternative job stress models-the effort-reward imbalance model and the job strain model (job control only)-on coronary heart disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Psychosocial work characteristics and social support as predictors of SF-36 health functioning: the Whitehall II study.
TL;DR: Negative aspects of work (high demands and effort-reward imbalance) and negative aspects of close relationships are independent powerful predictors of poor health functioning.
Journal ArticleDOI
Psychometric evaluation of the Dutch version of the Aggression Questionnaire
TL;DR: Confirmatory factor analyses were done in an attempt to replicate the factor structure of the Aggression Questionnaire constructed by Buss and Perry (1992) in a Dutch sample and revealed that a better fit was obtained by omitting 3 items.
