Journal ArticleDOI
Evolution strategies –A comprehensive introduction
TL;DR: This article gives a comprehensive introduction into one of the main branches of evolutionary computation – the evolution strategies (ES) the history of which dates back to the 1960s in Germany.
Journal ArticleDOI
Robust Optimization - A Comprehensive Survey
TL;DR: The main focus will be on the different approaches to perform robust optimization in practice including the methods of mathematical programming, deterministic nonlinear optimization, and direct search methods such as stochastic approximation and evolutionary computation.
BookDOI
Genetic and Evolutionary Computation -- GECCO-2003
Erick Cantú-Paz,James A. Foster,Kalyanmoy Deb,Lawrence Davis,Rajkumar Roy,Una-May O'Reilly,Hans-Georg Beyer,Russell Standish,Graham Kendall,Stewart W. Wilson,Mark Harman,Joachim Wegener,Dipankar Dasgupta,Mitch A. Potter,Alan C. Schultz,Kathryn A. Dowsland,Natasha Jonoska,Julian F. Miller +17 more
TL;DR: This work extends the application of CPSO to the dynamic problem by considering a bi-modal parabolic environment of high spatial and temporal severity, and suggests that charged swarms perform best in the extreme cases, but neutral swarms are better optimizers in milder environments.
Book
The Theory of Evolution Strategies
TL;DR: This chapter focuses on the analysis of the ES on the Sphere Model and the strategies used to design and implement these models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Self-Adaptive Genetic Algorithms with Simulated Binary Crossover
Kalyanmoy Deb,Hans-Georg Beyer +1 more
TL;DR: The remarkable similarity in the working principle of real-parameter GAs and self-adaptive ESs shown in this study suggests the need for emphasizing further studies on self- Adaptive GAs.
